The first step in solving the problem is

graphing y = 34 x + 5 and (0, 5) as shown in
figure 1 as the red line. And the line
3x + 4y = 38 and (0, 5) as shown figure 1 the

Then solve for the perpendicular line to

y = 43 x + 5 . The mathematical process is

The fourth part of the solving process is

actually finding the equation for the circle.

Basic Standard form equation of the circle is

(x − h) 2 + (y − h) 2 = r 2
(h, k ) are the center coordinates
x and y are a point on the circle
r is the radius of the circle

With (3, 1) as the center we need to find the

radius in order to complete the equation
(x − h) 2 + (y − h) 2 = r .

This is found by using the following

equation;
r= √(x − h) 2
+ (y − k ) 2

In summary after completing this
project I found that the hardest part was
inputting the information on the word
document. It was tedious and I had to learn
how to be patient. I learned tricks on how to
copy and paste functions rather than
re-typing each equation as I went on. I
learned how to write simply for a basic
reader to understand, it was hard not to skip
steps as I showed the process of solving the
equation step by step.
I also found that the solving process
was not too hard once I figured out the
center of the circle was the two
perpendicular lines that crossed.Also
remembering to mathematically find the
center of the circle and not simply by the
desmos graph. Finding r on the other- hand
was a little more difficult. But after careful
solving and discussing with you I was able
to figure it out. Desmos graphing app was a
huge help in solving this problem as well.
Seeing each step visually helped to know
what steps need to be taken next to solve
the problem.
A real world application of why circle
equations are so important is the creation of
wheels on cars and lids on bottle
containers. Knowing how to use the circle
equation can help navigate what would be
the best size circle for the given product to
be made. And with each car wheel and lid of
a bottle made the equation of the circle
must be checked and double checked to
ensure the proper functionality the product.
So hence the circle equation is extremely
important in the real world.
