Use of Equipment
1. Mechanical Shaker
a piece of laboratory equipment used to mix, blend, or to agitate substances.

2. UTM
used to test the tensile stress and compressive strength of materials.

3. Tensile Testing Machine

a machine used for testing a sample that is subjected to a controlled tension until
failure.

4. Los Angeles Abrasion Machine

used to measure the degradation of mineral aggregate of standard gradings
resulting from a combination of actions including abrasion or attrition, impact and
grinding in a rotating steel drum containing a specified number of steel spheres.

5. Compression Machine
are designed to handle the daily demands of testing cylinders, beams, blocks and
cubes.

6. Vicat Apparatus
A penetration device used in the testing of hydraulic cements and similar
materials.

7. Digital Sieve Mechanical Shaker

Used to shake a stacked column of standard sieve-test trays to cause solids to sift
progressively from the top (large openings) to the bottom (small openings and a final
pan), according to particle size.

8. First Aid Kit

a box containing equipment needed to give immediate medical help in
an emergency.

9. Oven
used for sample drying, baking, annealing, conditioning, sterilizing, evaporating
and dehydrating, and other general laboratory work.

10. Slump Cones

used for concrete that is too fluid (workable) to be measured using the
standard slump test, because the concrete will not retain its shape when the cone is
removed.

11. Fire Extinguisher

an active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires, often in
emergency situations.

Reaction Paper

The laboratory shown in the video is really nice. They provide laboratory coat, glasses and
gloves to the those who are using the laboratory. I am really impressed by how clean,
maintained, and complete their laboratory is. I am happy because it was my first time to see a
laboratory like what was shown in the video. Super far from what Silliman has. I hope, someday,
Silliman University will be able to have that kind of laboratory. Showing this kind of video
makes me interested in looking for more laboratory videos. It does not only make me interested
but it also makes me curious about what other universities have and how they work in it. It also
teaches everyone how important it is to have a proper attire and to follow the rules in the
laboratory to avoid accidents from happening.
