asonantes.
Los Mewlips
(The Mewlips)
The shadows where the Mewlips dwell La oscuridad donde los Mewlips moran
Are dark and wet as ink, es como tinta, húmeda y negra,
And slow and softly rings their bell, y lenta y suave su campana toca
As in the slime you sink. mientras te abismas en la ciénaga.
You sink into the slime, who dare Te sumerges en limo, si te atreves
To knock upon their door, a golpear, llamando a su puerta,
While down the grining gargoyles stare mientras miran las gárgolas, sonrientes,
And noisome waters pour. y derraman aguas infectas.
The cellars where the Mewlips sit Los sótanos donde los Mewlips yacen
Are deep and dank and cold son húmedos, profundos, fríos,
With single sickly candle lit; con un solo candil de luz menguante;
And there they count their gold. allí cuentan oro amarillo.
Their walls are wet, their ceilings drip; Mojada la pared, gotea el techo;
Their feet upon the floor por sobre el suelo, sus pisadas,
Go softly with a squish-flap-flip, van suavemente, con un chapoteo,
As they sidle to the door. furtivamente hacia la la entrada.
They pip out slyly; through a crack Espían con malicia; van buscando
Their feeling fingers creep, un hueco sus sensibles dedos,
And when they've finished, in a sack y cuando han concluído, con un saco
Your bones they take to keep. se llevan y guardan tus huesos.
Beyond the Merlock Mountains, a long and lonely road
Through the spider-shadows and the marsh of Tode,
And through the wood of hanging trees and the gallows-weed,
You go to find the Mewlips - and the Mewlips feed.
