Experimental analysis: Functional

significance of Neurosecretory
cells in crab, Scylla serrata.
Materials and Methods
• Animals: Adult mature male crab, Scylla serrata
weighing 100-160 g. were selected for the
experimental purpose.
• The animals within the above rang of body weights
were divided into control and experimental groups.
• Experiments conducted for 10 days period
• Thyroxine at a dose of 1 µg/animal/day.
• Calcium carbonate at a dose of 3 mg/ animal/ day.
• L-Tyrosine at a dose of 4 µg/ animal/ day.
• Proply-thiouracil at dose of 1µg/animal/day.
• Reserpine 0.1µg/animal/day.
• Dexamethasone at dose of 0.1µg/animal/day.
• Compounds injected as per standard dose
recommendations with the help of literature survey
and while taking in to consideration LC50 .
• Objective
• To understand the effects of some
hormone and pharmaceutical compounds
on neurosecretory cells and to correlate
the results with various biochemical
parameters and microscopic study to
understand the functional significance of
the neurosecretory cells in CNS.
