Build-a-Sentence

For six players

Game 1—Adjectives
Requires 6 copies of the red bordered game board, and 1 set each of the yellow, grey, peach and green word cards.
Children choose an animal card (peach) and then take it in turns to choose from the yellow, grey and green card piles until
they have constructed a sentence, e.g. ‘The friendly cat ran.’ The first child to build 3 sentences wins.

Game 2—Adverbs
Requires 6 copies of the orange bordered game board, and 1 set each of the yellow, peach, green and blue word cards.
Children choose an animal card (peach) and then take it in turns to choose from the yellow, green and blue card piles until
they have constructed a sentence, e.g. ‘A dog sneezed loudly.’ The first child to build 3 sentences wins.

Game 3—Adjectives and Adverbs

Requires 6 copies of the blue bordered game board, and 1 set each of the yellow, grey, peach, green and blue word cards.
Children choose an animal card (peach) and then take it in turns to choose from the yellow, grey, green and blue card piles
until they have constructed a sentence, e.g. ‘The sad mermaid swam slowly.’ The first child to build 2 sentences wins.

Game 4—Complex Sentences

Requires 6 copies of the green bordered game board, and 1 set each of the yellow, grey, peach, green, blue, pink, pale
green, orange and red word cards.
Children choose an animal card (peach) and then take it in turns to choose from the yellow, grey, green, blue, pink, pale
green, orange and red card piles until the have constructed a sentence, e.g. ‘The pink parrot flew lazily because it was
tired.’ The first child to complete their sentence wins.
