professional education and job and tour and travel in different countries.
The report is a mixture of
Secondary and Primary data, with Questionnaires being our major
instrument to collect primary data. Major topics I have attempted to
cover in this project are to:
- Explore the strategies applied by different institutes and factors
considered by students while selecting the institutes.

- Understand the perception of the students with respect to

facilities provided by their respective institutes.

Compare the three countries based on the factors considered in

finding views of students and professors.

- Conclude and enumerate the recommendations tat might help to

8
9

find out the factors which are most preferred by students while

selecting professional education institutes. According to the

survey we came to the conclusion that

Education is the experience that student get when they go through the
entire course period unlike physical commodity that can be
experienced by shape, size, color.

- Students are value the institute which are providing better

placement good infrastructure and quality of education.

- There is selected number of tools to market the institute like print

Eligibility& Fees

Only primary school education is compulsory in Malaysia, where

multilingual public schools, private schools and home educators co-

exist side by side. Following unregulated preschool education a child

enters primary school at age 7 for a period of 6 years.

Fees differ between universities in Malaysia, with the prevalence of

international branch campuses and private institutions bringing the

overall average up. In general however, studying in Malaysia is cheaper

than many countries, with average tuition fees currently standing at

approximately US$23,985 per year.

Surprisingly, the highest ranked university in the country, Universiti

Malaya (UM), as a public institution, has an average which is again

much lower, standing at just MYR 7,078 (~US$1,647) per year for

international undergraduates.

Although the prices of programs at Malaysia’s international branch

campuses tend to be higher, they are still much cheaper than their

international counterparts, which offering the same prestige. For

example, if you were to take a bachelor’s degree in computer science

from Monash University’s Malaysian branch campus it would cost

US$9,222 a year, while at the original Monash University in Australia

the price would be more than double, currently US$23,297 a year.

Ties – Ups:

We at the Arcus from associations with different colleges and universities in

various countries and enter into a tie up with them which allows us to

counsel students better for that particular university or course. These tie

ups provide us with extensive information and expertise about that

particular educational institute and thus help us in gaining a better

understanding of what students are looking for within a course and how we

can counsel them for the best university and course. It also helps us in

understanding the respective university’s admission pre-requisites and

reduces ambiguities.

Counseling Students:

The most important step of this process is student counseling where we

extend our expertise to students and help them in taking decisions

regarding the various countries, universities and courses in which they can

apply. We have trained and expert counselors that help students identify

69
70

and match their professional goals with the most suitable course in the

most appropriate university. Our guidance help students to take better

career decisions and provide better understanding of the best time for

applying to a college. We have the authority as prescribed in the letter of

authority to counsel students on institution’s behalf and provide the

invaluable support all along the way.

Applying To Study:

We provides you application assistance by prompting you about various

deadlines that is why it is important that you apply as early as possible as

it’s the best way to go. After all, the sooner you gain acceptance into a

university, the sooner you can arrange your travels. Application deadlines

will be different depending on the school but generally speaking, for

programs starting in the fall (September/October), applications will be open

from early in the year (January/February) until the middle of the year

(June/July).

70
71

Admission’s application:

Entry requirements vary widely between universities and between

countries, so be sure to check the information provided by your prospective

university before submitting anything. Speaking generally, however, if you

are applying for an undergraduate degree you will be asked to show that

you have completed your secondary education to a standard that is in line

with the required grades (e.g. your GPA, A-level grades or equivalent) for

the program you’re applying to. If you have an international qualification

and are unsure whether this is accepted, you should contact the admissions

department of the university. In this phase of the process we help you fill

your application and submit all necessary documents and verify these

documents a needed by the university.

For non-native English speakers wanting to study in English-speaking

countries. It is also highly likely that you’ll need to provide proof of your

English-language proficiency by taking an English-language test such as

TOEFL or IELTS. Similar tests may be required for those studying in other

71
72

languages. All these requirements are taken care by us and we keep filling

you with all the important information and pre-requisites while you apply.

Admission’s Interview:

As a prospective international student, it is relatively unlikely for schools to

except you to attend an admissions interview in person, although this is not

unheard of especially for the most competitive programs. Some universities

hold international interviews in various locations around the world , so you

may be expected to attend one of these. There is also a growing trend of

using video interviewing. This is like any other interview, with a

prearranged time and date, but will take place online ,via an application

such as Skype.

Acceptance letter:

Once your admission’s application has been accepted and you’ve cleared

your admission’s interview(if any), the institute which you have applied to

sends you an acceptance letter signifying that you have been accepted to

study in that particular university. Once, you get your admission’s letter you

72
73

have to wait for your visa approval letter from the university on receipt of

which you can apply for Visa.

COUNSELLORS FRONT

Financials:

They will verify original financial documents of the students on universities

behalf as well as student’s original academic documents both at the time of

applying and before visa application.

Medical:

They will verify that the students applying for the education programme in

any of the countries are medically fit according to the government norms.

Police Clearance Certificate:

73
74

In order to make sure that the student applying for the education

programme is having no criminal background, we ask them to get a PCC

(Police Clearance Certificate).

Ticketing Assistance:

Arcus provides assistance in helping the students to get their tickets

according to their needs and requirement.

Arcus provide you with the best possible options for travel. It helps you

identify the right airline for excess baggage schemes. The department helps

you in your entire course-period in travelling. They also arrange travel for

parents and relatives of the student when required.

Pre- departure:

of for a student,. To smoothen the adaptation and adjustment period for

life at an overseas university. One of the core objencives of the pre-

departure briefing is to provide critical information to process and note

carefully in order to deter any untoward issues, especially in the social

74
75

sense from occurring and to be aware of what to expect.

Visa & Emigration Assistance:

Visa Assistance:

RESEARCH & METHODOLOGY

76
77

5.1(A)RESEARCH METHODALOGY & TYPE OF

RESEARCH DESIGN
The study of conducting research is called research methodology.

Research: The word research is composed of tow syllables “Re” &

“Search” .
“Re” is prefix meaning’ Again or over again or a new’ and
“search” is the suffix meaning ‘to
examine closely or carefully’ or ‘to test & try.

Together they form a careful, systematic, patient study and

investigation in some field of
knowledge undertaken to establish principles/policies.

Research can also define as:

 Search for knowledge.

 Systematic and scientific search for getting relevant answers

many taken up specific topic.

 Scientific enquiry into a system.

 It is the voyage of discovery.

77
78

Research Methodology refers to:

 A systematic study

 Defining a problem

 Formulation a hypothesis

 Deduction & conclusion

Objective of Research

It develops focus:

The research may be to understand for become familiar with some

phenomena or to get to
know more in dept it .For example, since the day of steam engine ,
the research continued to
come up with more powerful locomotive which could be operated
with alternative sources of
energy like diesel, electricity etc.

78
79

It reveals characteristic:
To clearly reveals the characteristic of an individual or situation or
a group like a society is
another type of research objective. For example in these
days before a criminal is sentenced efforts are taken to study why
he had turned criminal. This
and join the main stream of life.

It determines frequency of occurrence:

To determine the frequency with which something occurs or with

which it associated with
something else. In social research one of the major areas of
repeated and continuous research
is analysis of poverty and unemployment.

It tests hypothesis:
To test a hypothesis about the casual relationship between variable
being studied. The type of
research is mainly to determine the relationship between various
factors so that necessary
policy options could be framed .For example, the reason for
several malpractices adopted in

79
80

Public distribution outlets include low salary and absence of

regulation of service of the staff in
such outlets. This is turn make them to feel insecure and they
secure of these staff and
regularize their services. Hence the study structure of casual
relationship might help in
formulation of policies.

Criteria of good Research:

 Research is half complete, when objective and purpose of it
are clearly spelt out.

 It is necessary that every step followed in the process of

research is explained fully.

 This is because any other person who wants to repeat such a

work to such a work to

achieve future improvement on lest the validity of the

research work should be able to do it.

 The research design adopted for the study should be clear and
match with objectives.

80
81

 The research should be honest in reporting the facts and

revealing the flaws in the work.

 Every research work should be based on carefully selected

analytical tools.

 The research work is incomplete without acknowledging the

various data or facts.

 Limitation should be frankly revealed.

Type of Research

Pure and Fundamental Research-It based on the question

‘Why things

happen?’

Action or Applied Research-It based on the question ‘how

things happen? ’

Research Process

The research process consist of following stages-

1. The primary stages :-

81
82

(I)Observation- The first step in the research process is

that of the

observation, research work starts with the observation

which can be either unaided

visual observation or guided and controlled observation. It

can be said that an

observation ideas to research, the results obtained from

research result in final

observations which can play a crucial part in carrying out

further research. This

method is very simple and helps a great deal in framing of

the hypothesis as it is

very accurate in nature but it also has some major

limitation lick some of the

occurrences may not be open to the observation and the

occurrences which may be

open for observation may not be studied conveniently.

(ii) Interest- AS studied in the above paragraph, research

starts with the

82
83

observation and it leads to a curiosity to learn and gain

more and more about what

has been observed. Hence it can be said that observation

results in the creation of

an interest in the mind of researcher. The interest can be

either academic in nature

or it may be a policy making interest. It may be a self

interest or a group interest.

Group interest is also referred to as the social interest.

(iii) Crystallization- It can be defined as the process

involving the designing

of the definite form of research to be used in the study for

the subject matter that has

been observed. During this stage, the research project gets

a concrete shape and structure.

(iv) Formulating a research problem- A research

problem can belong to one of the following two categories
– it can belong to category in which there can relationship
between various variables or it may belong to the other
category, which its based on nature. In the beginning, it is
important for research a find out the general interest

83
84

subject matter, which he want to study. By this the

researcher will be able to take a problem more broadly and
also in a match generalized for then the ambiguities linked
to a problem can be referred and understood. This really
supports in the formulation of the problem a research.
Although this process is not that simple and requires many
fruitful discussions in order to achieve a proper conclusion
or a decision.

(v) Primary Synopsis- Before starting with the actual

study work, it is very necessary for a researcher to prepare
a summary or a plan about a activities he has to perform in
connection with research operation this will help him a lot
to get a definite idea or an understanding of what would
be written in the final report.

(vi) Conceptual Clarity-It is very much important for a

researcher to have in depth knowledge and understanding
of the subject or the topic he has to study as it helps a lot
in achieving one’s goal and objectives in a much easier
and also a comparatively much simpler way.

(vii) Documentation – The comments help in providing

important information to a researcher documents it
something in writing it can be record, files or diaries etc.

84
85

may be published or unpublished in nature. Documents

can be extracted and can be used in research work.

2. Secondary Stage -: this stage of the research consist of all

the futures that are actually required to run a research project. This
stage introduce following –

(i) Research project planning- Involves selection of the future

courses of action for condition and directing a research
project. A researcher project plan gives a rational approach to
researcher by which one it able to decide in advance about
what to do, how to do, when to do, where to do, who is to do
particular task in a specific activity.

(ii) Research project formulation- After the planning of

the project has been done to researcher follows this with a
practical approach in order to carry out the project. This step
is the secondary stage involves the systematic setting forth of
the total research project with an aim of conducting a
systematic study.

(iii) Data Collection- The step involves the depth meaning for
the concepts that are to be investigated are look forward to
data analysis, data requirement etc… source of
understatement or overstatement should be avoided and data
85
86

should be three from any type of error, the data collection

planning should be done or implemented in very careful
manner, with the help of specialist researcher. The data
should be good and meaningful in nature should not only be a
collection of words but should provided meaningful
information.
(iv) Classification of Tabulation- Classification can be
defined as the arrangement of the data into groups and
classes depending on the resemblance and the similarities. By
classification, the data can be condensed in a vary elegant
way by which the various important features can we easily
noticed i.e. one can easily highlight the various salient
features of the data at a glance. Tabulation of the data can be
defined as the orderly arrangement of the data in columns
and the rows this step also helps a great deal in the
contentions of the data also in the analysation of the
relation,trends etc.

(v) Data analysis – In this step, the collected data is arranged

according to some pattern or a particular format and this
analisation of the data is done mainly to provide the data with
a meaning. It is a actually the computing of the some of the
majors supporters by the search for the relationship patterns,
existing among the group of the data.

(vi) Testing of a hypothesis -: The step of testing acts as the

back bone of the data analysis. Various test like “t” test “z”

86
87

test chi square test are use for the used by the statistician for
the testing of the hypothesis.

(vii) Interpretation of result:- It is very important that the

results are interpreted into action recommendation and rule
should be able to before refer to a decision i.e. should help in
join a conclusion.

Final stage- this stage involve –

3.
(I) Conclusion and recommendation – This act as the crux of
the research project work . Recommendation arte based on the
conclusion obtained and further these conclusion are based on the
interpretation of the result of data analysis. But a major point to be
kept in mind here is that all these conclusion and the
recommendation should be lack to the research hypothesis stated.

(ii) Report writing- For the researcher as well as the reader, report
writing is very crucial as it acts as the best way of communication
between the two. Report written must be very simple in nature with
easy language, high clarity. Report writing can not be done by everyone
and requires an especial skilled person for this purpose.

87
88

Sampling Technique

Sampling is concerned with the selection of a subset of individual for within a

statistical population of

estimate characteristic of the whole population. Each observation measures one or

more properties

(such as weight, location, color ) of observation bodies distinguished as

independent object or

individuals.

1. Random sampling
Everyone in the entire target population has an equal chance of being
selected.

This is similar to the national lottery if the “population” is everyone who has
bought a lottery

ticket, then each person has an equal changes of winning the lottery
(assuming they all have

one ticket each).

Random samples require a way of naming or numbering the target

population and then using

some type of raffle method to choose those to make a sample. Random

samples are the best

method of selecting your sample from the population of interest.

88
89

The advantage are that your sample should represent the target population
and eliminate

sampling bias, but the disadvantage is that is very difficult to achive (i.e.
time, effort and

money).

2. Stratified sampling

The researcher identifies the different types of people that make up the target
population and

work out the population needed for the sample to be representative.

Gathering search a sample would be extremely of consuming and difficult to

do (
disadvantage). This method is rarely use in Psychology. However, the
advantage is that the

sample should be highly representative of the target population and therefore

we can g

generalize for the results obtained.

89
90

3. Opportunity Sampling :-
Uses people from target population available at the time and willing to take

part. It is based on convenience.

An opportunity sample is obtained by asking members of the populations of

interest if they would take part in your research . An example would be selecting

a sample of student from those coming out of the library.

This is a quick way and easy of choosing participants (advantage),but may not

provide a representative sample,and could be biased(disadvantage).

4.Systematic Sampling :-
Chooses subjects in a systematic(i.e orderly / logical) way from the target

population , like every nth participants on a list of names.

To take a systematic sample , you list all the members of the population , and

then decided upon a sample you would like . By dividing the number of people in

the population by the number of people you want in your sample , you get a

number we will call n.

If you take every nth name , you will get a systematic sample of the correct size .

If , for example , you wanted to sample 150 children from a school of 1,500,you

would take every 10th name.

90
91

5. Judgmental Sampling:-
Judgmental sampling is a non probability sampling technique where the

researcher selects unit to be sampled based on their knowledge and professional

judgment.

This type of sampling technique is also known as purposive sampling and

authoritative sampling.

TECHNIQUES USED IN RESEARCH

RESEARCH DESIGN: EXPLORATORY

On the basis of major purpose of our investigation the EXPLORATORY

RESEARCH was found to be most suitable . This kind of research has

the primary objective of development of insights into the problem . It

studies the main area where the problem lies and also tries to evaluate

some appropriate courses of action.
