Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Quizlet is a brilliant tool for students to utilize in order to quiz themselves and retain the information
embedded into the Quizlet. It helps students with attention issues maintain attention. It also allows quizzes to
be created with different languages, perfect for ELL’s.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

The Quizlet should be used as an application that will allow students to test their knowledge of the unit
they’ve recently learned. After instruction, I will allow students access to the Quizlet that I’ve created to make
sure that they understand key concepts in the Social Studies Unit. Another way it could be used is to actually
test the students. Quizlet can be set up as matching or as multiple choice or true or false, which opens so
many doors for testing the students and being able to give them feedback promptly.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Students can obtain access to the Quizlet through the teacher and they can use a class set of laptops or take
turns at desktop computers in order to complete the study set and/or test. They’ll be able to quickly go
through the questions and get feedback on their results. Quizlet can be used as an actual test or as a way of
letting the students know what they need to work on for their exam.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Because it is a student tool, the students will have to see whether they were correct in order to effectively
study for the exam. The Quizlet colors green when correct, and red when incorrect.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, the teacher should know whether the students understand the material and what needs to
be gone over to ensure the entire class understands the material. Either they did perfectly, or the teacher can
go over some key points that the students may have missed.

How will the data be used?

The data can be used as a grade or as a way of letting the students know how they are progressing with the
material. The teacher can note whether there are any frequently occurring incorrect answers and the class
can go over certain points together. The results, if there aren’t many missed answers, can show whether or
not a certain teaching strategy is working for specific students. Maybe they need more hands on activities or
more visuals to enhance their learning, which could explain why certain students missed more than others.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I’ve never used Quizlet before, surprisingly enough. I like that the program uses so many ways to assess
content and whether it has been learned. This activity can show me that the students understand the lesson
effectively or whether I need to change up my teaching strategy so every child understands. I know it is
difficult to wait on feedback when it comes to whether they understand content, so this would allow them to
instantly see what they need to work on.

Reflective Practice:

This could influence student learning on a few levels. Students could see what they need to work on and the
teacher could adapt their teaching strategies to effectively teach every one of the students. The teacher being
able to see that the way they are teaching is not working could change the entire way the class is taught,

allowing more students to feel confident with their learning if the teacher can adapt to the class. The class
may be provided with tablets, which would allow more students to access the Quizlet more easily.
