Universal Design for Learning (UDL): To help students with special needs in the class, these strategies will
be implemented. I will read the quiz out loud to my students so anyone with a visual impairment will be
able to actively participate. For any students with hearing impairments the quiz will be presented on the
Smart board.
Before the quiz is given to the class there will be several lessons on rhyming words. The students will get
many opportunities to do various activities using rhyming words to build their content knowledge. One of
the activities will be a read aloud of the book Dog on a Frog? As I read the book I will ask students to pick
out the rhyming words that they hear in the story and I will make a chart of the different words from the
story.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☒ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: I will read the questions on the quiz giving the
children think time to answer the question. The students will be on the classroom computers of I pads or
devices they have brought from home.

Reflective Practice:
Well, I chose to use this resource as a formative assessment. I could choose to use a resource like this to
introduce a topic. I could also use it as an engaging activity to teach the concepts instead of just assess
them.
