Pedro David Gallese Quiroz (Lima, April 23, 1990) is a Peruvian footballer. He plays as
goalkeeper and his current team is the Red Sharks of Veracruz of the First Division of Mexico.
Gallese was born in Lima on April 23, 1990. Son of José Luis Gallese and Tatiana Quiroz. In
December 2016 he married Claudia Díaz, with whom he has a son.
He started at the Tito Drago Academy and then went on to the former Real Junior training club.
He then made all the minor divisions at San Martin de Porres University, where he was
promoted to the professional squad for the 2007 season. He debuted in the highest category
on June 25, 2008 in the 4-0 victory against Atlético Minero, that same year he was crowned
national champion sharing the position with Ricardo Farro and Leao Butrón. In 2009 he was
transferred to this team and in 2010 he returned to San Martin where he was the national
champion of the 2010 Decentralized Championship, tackling 2 matches. He qualified and
played the Copa Sudamericana 2012.
After his good performances at San Martin University there were many teams that tried him but
Juan Aurich made his services in 2015, for his good Copa Libertadores with the team from
Chiclayo and with the Peruvian team, there were teams like River Plate and San Lorenzo who
wanted to have Gallese, but he stayed until 2016.
On June 19, 2016, Gallese becomes a new player of the Red Sharks of Veracruz after an
outstanding performance in the Copa América Centenario with the Peruvian team. His arrival is
controversial given that apparently there was a contract with Tigres of the Autonomous
University of Nuevo Leon where he had to report in January 2017. Subsequent investigations
showed that Club Veracruz, had made negotiations with the team Juan Aurich owner of the
federative rights of the player, motivating the Peruvian club to issue a denial in which he
claimed that Gallese had been sold to Club Veracruz not knowing deals with executives of the
Tigers. Finally everything ended up as it should have been.
National team
Gallese formed the starting line-up of the team that managed to qualify to the World Cup after
36 years.
He has been international with the national soccer team of Peru in the U-17 category,
qualifying for the 2007 World Cup after occupying the fourth place in the South American
Championship held in Ecuador that same year. In this team was directed by Juan José Oré.
While he made his debut in the national team on August 6, 2014 in the friendly against
Panama, covering a penalty.
In 2015 he was summoned to the Copa America, in which he had a more than satisfactory
participation with the National Football Team of Peru, thanks to his performance he had offers
from clubs in Turkey. It ended up being in the Club Juan Aurich and thus I dispute the
Conmebol qualifiers. He did not have a good start in the first 6 matches (of which I cap 4);
since Peru made 4 out of 18 possible points. This caused the famous generational change,
with which they played the Copa América Centenario 2016.
