Ester Primer

Description & Uses

SEMSTONE 8084 is a two-part rubberized vinyl ester primer. It is
used under SEMSTONE vinyl ester lining systems to impart high
adhesion and impact resistance.

Packaging/Coverage
SEMSTONE 8084 primer is available in a 1 gallon unit.

Typical Properties
Mixed usable pot life @ 75° F 1% catalyst level: 30 minutes
Weight per gallon: 8.9 lbs.
Maximum allowable recoat time: 48 hours
Adhesion:
Concrete: Excellent (exceeds cohesive strength of concrete)
Steel: Excellent (exceeds cohesive strength of coating)
Coverage: 150 sq. ft. per gallon over smooth concrete

Application Information
1. All concrete surfaces must be structurally sound.
2. Concrete surfaces must be free of oil and grease.
3. Concrete must be acid-etched or abrasive blasted to remove
laitance and surface contaminants.
4. All surfaces must be dry before proceeding.
5. Steel must be sandblasted to near white metal (SP-10). In
immersion service, abrasive blast to white metal (SP-5).
6. Catalyze SEMSTONE 8084 primer at a 1-2% level by weight.
One gallon SEMSTONE 8084 primer resin with 40 cc catalyst
is the 1% level and pot life at 75°F will be approximately 30
minutes. One gallon SEMSTONE 8084 primer resin with 80 cc
catalyst is the 2% level and should be used at lower
temperatures.
7. Thoroughly mix catalyst into resin and apply to prepared
surface using brush or paint roller.
8. Top Coat: refer to specific top coat product bulletin for top
coating instructions.
9. CAUTION: DO NOT apply this product over latex or epoxy
based materials.

Safety / Shelf Life

As with all vinyl ester materials, care should be taken in handling.
Wear rubber gloves, long sleeves, and chemical goggles. If material
comes in contact with skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap
and water and remove contaminated clothing immediately. Contains
flammable solvents.
Shelf Life Part A & B: 3 months
