The French Revolution Movie, Children’s Book, or Comic Book

DIRECTIONS: Students in groups of 1-4 will be creating a movie, children’s story book, or comic book/story board for
the French Revolution. You may use electronic apps or physically construct the project. It could be wise to include someone
in your group with good technology skills or good artistic skills. You may have to explore to find an appropriate app.

REMEMBER: THIS IS YOUR TEST TO SHOW ME YOU UNDERSTAND THE FRENCH REVOLUTION.
INCLUDING THE BARE MINIMUM TELLS ME YOU UNDERSTAND THE MINIMUM.

Your comic book/story board will be graded on your understanding of the following French Revolution events. So include
the following steps of the French Revolution from your Netflix storyboard. Each should be used as a scene, page, or frame
in your story. They will be FIVE points each.

Title:
1. Some form of introduction title (5 pts)

French Revolution Part I:

1. King Louis XVI is broke so he calls a meeting of the Estates General (5 pts)
2. The 3rd Estate is always outvoted by the 1st and 2nd so they propose an individual vote for each rep. (5 pts)
3. 1st and 2nd Estate lock the 3rd Estate out of Versailles (5 pts)
4. The 3rd Estate take the Tennis Court Oath, a demand for a limited monarchy Constitution (5 pts)
5. King Louis XVI calls 18,000 soldiers to destroy the 3rd Estate (5 pts)
6. The people of Paris storm the Bastille to stop the 18,000 soldiers (5 pts)
7. Great Fear: violence spreads from Paris across France as people kill clergy and nobility (5 pts)
8. The National Assembly writes a constitution limiting the monarchy and the Declaration of the Rights of Man (5 pts)
9. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette attempt to escape to Austria (5 pts)

French Revolution Part II:

10. Austria, Prussia, Russia, Spain and England declare war to stop the French Revolution (5 pts)
11. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette are executed by guillotine to prevent a return of absolute monarchy (5 pts)
12. The Committee of Public Safety and Maximillian Robespierre take power to save France (5 pts)
13. The Reign of Terror: Robespierre executes 40,000 to restore order in France, but is too powerful (5 pts)
14. The Directory: the weak government that follows Robespierre’s execution (5 pts)
15. Napoleon, the military hero that saves France, overthrows the Directory, conquers all of Europe except (5 pts)
England and makes himself Emperor
16. Continental System: Napoleon forbids all trade with England to weaken England
17. Invasion of Russia: Napoleon invades Russia, but is defeated by the scorched earth policy and winter. He
is defeated by England, Spain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria; and sent to Elba (5 pts)
18. Napoleon escapes Elba, rules for another 100 Days, but is defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled to
St. Helena where he finally dies (5 pts)
