Inovasi Pemanfaatan MP-LEVEIN (Mimba and Pepaya Leaf Vegetable

Insecticides) Berbasis Biopeptisida Mixing untuk Mengendalikan Hama


Wereng Coklat (Nilaparvata lugens) yang Ramah Lingkungan
pada Tanaman Padi (Oryza sativa L.)

ABSTRAK

Padi merupakan tanaman pangan yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan masyarakat
Indonesia. Namun, produksi dari tanaman padi masih rendah sehingga pemerintah
impor beras dari luar negeri. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan rendahnya
produksi dari tanaman padi ialah serangan dari hama wereng coklat. Upaya yang
dilakukan petani dalam mengendalikan hama wereng coklat adalah menggunakan
insektisida sintetis. Upaya insektisida sintetis memiliki kendala seperti dapat
menyebabkan tercemarnya lingkungan serta dari segi ekonomis harga cukup
mahal sehingga perlunya upaya penanggulangan yang ekonomis, mudah
diterapkan dan mampu mengendalikan hama wereng coklat pada tanaman padi.
Inovasi yang dilakukan dalam penanggulangan permasalahan adalah dengan
pemanfaatan insektisida nabati yang berasal dari ekstrak daun mimba dan ekstrak
daun pepaya (MP-LEVEIN). Ekstrak daun mimba mengandung bahan aktif
azadirachtin, meliantriol, salanin, dan nimbin. Ekstrak daun pepaya mengandung
bahan aktif enzim papain, alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, dan tannin. Kandungan
bahan aktif ekstrak daun mimba dan ekstrak daun papaya ini dapat dijadikan
insektisida untuk mengendalikan hama wereng coklat. Senyawa alkaloid daun
pepaya berpotensi sebagai insektisida nabati. Senyawa alkaloid termasuk senyawa
nitrogen heterosiklik. Senyawa alkaloid bekerja sebagai insektisida nabati dengan
merusak sistem saraf melalui sistem knock down. Senyawa saponin bekerja
dengan merusak sistem saraf hama. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis berinisiatif
memberikan solusi cerdas dan inovatif melalui studi pustaka sehingga dapat
meningkatkan kekuatan persaingan ekonomi melalui pertanian yang berkualitas,
menjaga lingkungan, menigkatkan indeks NTP petani dengan prinsib manajemen
terintegrasi dan tercapainya stabilitas ekonomi nasional.

ABSTRACT

Paddy is one of the most essential food plants for Indonesian people. However,
the production rate of rice plants in Indonesia is apparently low so that the
government is importing rice commodity from other countries. One of the factors
that causes the low production of rice is the attack of wereng coklat pests on the
rice plants. Many efforts have been done to restrain the contamination of wereng
coklat pests. One of the ways is by using synthetic pesticides. However, the using
of synthetic pesticides has negative side effects such as polluting the environment
and costing relatively high expense. It is then needed to find a more economic and
attainable method that can restrain wereng coklat pests attack on rice plants. There
comes an innovation to take care of the problem which is the using of bio-
pesticide concentrated by the extracts of mimba and papaya leaves called MP-
LEVEIN. The extracts of mimba leaves contains active substances azadirachtin,
meliantriol, salanin, and nimbin. Meanwhile the extracts of papaya leaves
contains active substances and enzymes papain, alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, and
tannin. The substances contained in these extracts can be used as organic
pesticides to terminate the contamination of wereng coklat pests. Alkaloid
compound in papaya leaves, in particular, can be harnessed to be organic
pesticides. Alkaloid compound is categorized as heterocyclic nitrogen compounds.
Alkaloid compound works as a botanical insecticide by breaking the neural system
by knock down system. Similarly, Saponin compound also does its part by
breaking the neural system of the pest. Based on above facts, the writer intends to
give a smart and innovative solution through a literature study with the goal to
escalate economic competition by a high-quality agriculture, ecological concerns,
NTP index increase using the principle of integrated management and finally
resulting national stability in economy.
