ADJECTIVES ENDING IN -ING AND -ED

Example: boring / bored

-ING ADJECTIVES

_ We use these adjectives to describe what something or someone is like. It gives us an

opinion.

EX. This programme is boring. No, it is interesting.

EX. Your life is so boring!. I just find it depressing.

-ED ADJECTIVES

_ We use these adjectives to describe how we feel.

EX. Well. I’m bored. I’m not interested.

EX. I’m surprised at you. I’m tired.

EX. I’m bored because the subject is boring.

EX. I’m interested because the subject is interesting.

EX. Jane’s job is boring.

EX. Jane is bored (with her job).

* Somebody is bored is something ( or somebody else) is boring.

OR

* If something is boring, it makes you bored.

SO

*** Jane is bored because her job is boring.

-ING ADJECTIVES (cosas) : CAUSE (of the feeling / ...). Es la causa del resultado

de la acción (en -ed).

EX. Jane’s job is boring, so Jane is bored.

-ED ADJECTIVES (personas) : RESULT, EFFECT ( of something). Es el resultado

o el efecto de la acción.

EX. Jane is bored because her job is boring.

-ING produce o causa un efecto = -ED
