Resumen
La medición de los síntomas de esquizofrenia es necesaria para clasificar el tipo y las caracte-
rísticas de la enfermedad, contándose en este grupo las enfermedades mentales primordiales
para que el clínico haga un diagnóstico adecuado y por lo tanto una terapéutica correcta.
De acuerdo a la necesidad del medio y a la poca información existente con relación a la
aplicación de escalas para esquizofrenia, pretendemos con el siguiente artículo revisar en
la literatura los antecedentes de escalas de medición en esquizofrenia, la utilización de la
Escala Sindromática de Síntomas Positivos y Negativos de la Esquizofrenia (PANSS) como prueba
básica para el reconocimiento de los síntomas tanto positivos como negativos y los estudios
actuales así como futuros proyectos para una mejor aplicación de la escala, relacionados
con cada uno de los ítems que la componen.
Summary
The measurement of symptoms of schizophrenia is needed to classify the type and cha-
racteristics of the disease, being within this group of mental illness as main type to the
clinician to have a proper diagnosis and therefore a correct treatment. According to the

environmental need and the limited information available regarding the application of
scales for schizophrenia, with the following article we review the background literature of
measurement scales in schizophrenia, the use of Positive and Negative Syndromic Symptoms
Scale Schizophrenia (PANSS) as a basic test in the recognition of both positive and negative
symptoms, and current studies and future projects for better implementation of the scale,
related to each of the items that make up.
