Dear Parents,
Welcome! On behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department, I would like to extend a warm
welcome to you and your 5-13 year old child (ren). This year’s theme is “The Ultimate Summer
Camp Experience.”
The Summer Program will begin on Monday, June 7, 2010 and will end Friday, August 13, 2010.
Ten weeks of excitement and delight. The cost for the ten-week camp is ONLY $200.00 for
residents and $250.00 for non-residents. For your child’s added enjoyment, we have added new
facilities to your child’s daily summer camp schedule. Those new additions are the Super
Skating Rink and the Spray Ground. Aftercare is available at an additional cost of only $20.00 per
week. Also, there will be additional fees for parents that pick up their child or children late. We have
scheduled many fun-filled activities for your child. The activities are enriching, educational,
recreational, and enjoyable for all who participate. Each child will receive a camp t-shirt, a camp
sport bag, camp schedule, daily breakfast, daily lunch and a summer filled with fun, fun and
more fun!
Scheduled Recreational, Enrichment, Aquatic Fun and Educational Activities:

Super Skating Rink and Wet Spray Ground – New facilities! Check them out! Grab your skates
and helmet or your towel! Fun! Fun! Fun!
Swim Lessons - Basic Swim Lessons or Open Swim for all ages at Barracuda Bay.
Aquatic camp – Learn to provide kids with a basic understanding of ocean and beach safety,
lifesaving techniques and procedures, rescue board skills, and first aid. They will also learn about
marine life, and how to surf and snorkel.
Aqua Fun Time - Building sandcastles, relay races, flag races, surfing, and snorkeling.
Environmental and Nature Education: Learning about Wildlife; Mammals, birds and reptiles
and nature visits to historical sites
Education and Children’s Programs: Reading Fundamentals and Public Speaking
Academic – Learning Never Stops! Math, Reading and More!
Fun! Fun! Fun!: (Free and Fee Based Activities): Skating, Fun depot, Board games, Dave and
Busters, Movie Day, Boomers, open sports activities, Busch Gardens, Skate Zone, Bowling Day, Fun
Depot, Daytona 500, Super Splash, at Roger Dean, Kids Fishing Day, and much, much more!
Finale Fun Day - Fun Fest at Dan Calloway (Tate) Bounce House, music and food!

SUMMER CAMP RULES
1. Each participant MUST wear sneakers. Open-toed shoes, flip-flops, or sandals are not permitted.
2. The office telephones will be available for emergency telephone calls only.
3. All problems or complaints should be filed with the Camp Coordinator's office. Abusive language,
profanity, and any violent physical contact (fighting) will not be tolerated from either participants or
counselors. Severe offenses will result in termination from the program. We do reserve the right to
impose a written warning, parental conference, or a three- (3) day suspension if the offense is not
considered severe.
4. Misconduct on field trips will result in a suspension from all further trips and NO REFUNDS.
5. If a participant is suspended from camp during the week of a scheduled trip, he/she will not be allowed
to attend any field trips that week. NO REFUNDS will be given for paid trips.
6. All materials, clothing, or items brought to the facility by your child must be labeled. We are not
responsible for any materials that are left at the facility.
7. All field trips will be limited to first come, first serve basis with the exception of voucher paying
participants. Refunds will not be issued for participants that miss the bus for scheduled trips.
8. It is mandatory for all participants to wear their Summer Camp T-shirt on all field trips.
9. Summer Camp ends at 3:30 pm each day. Participants need to be picked up no later than 3:30 pm. An
initial late fee of $5.00 will be charged for the first 15 minutes after 3:30pm. In addition there will be a
charge of $1.00 per minute thereafter.. The late fees must be paid at the Barracuda Bay Administrative
Office, before the participant can attend the camp the next camp day.
10. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR ANY CHILD THAT HAS ATTENDED THREE
(3) DAYS OF SUMMER CAMP.
11. Toys and Personal items should be left at home. Summer camp is not responsible for damage or loss.

SUMMER AFTERCARE PROGRAM
The Summer Aftercare Program is available for parents who are unable to pick up their child(ren) from
summer camp by 3:30pm. Your child(ren) must be enrolled into this program before they can attend. We
accept only 60 participants per session. The cost for the program is $20.00 per session (1 session=1week).
The Summer Aftercare Program is a 10 week program. The hours are from 3:30pm until 6:00pm.
Only Aftercare participants will be allowed in the Summer Aftercare Program. If your child is not properly
enrolled in the program, he or she MUST be picked up by 3:30pm. If your child is not picked up by 3:30pm
SHARP , the following charges will be incurred:
An initial late fee of $5.00 will be charged for the first 15 minutes after 3:30pm. In addition there will
be a charge of $1.00 per minute thereafter. All fees incurred will be due at time of pick-up (cash or
money order only).
Example: Parent picks up child at 4:03pm and the child is not properly enrolled in the Aftercare
Program.
- at 3:45pm a $5.00 late fee will be incurred
- every minute after 3:45pm a $1.00 per minute fee will also be incurred
(3:45pm to 4:03pm = 18 minutes = $18.00 additional late fee)
- TOTAL LATE FEE DUE UPON PICK-UP = $23.00
The Summer Aftercare Program will be located at the Wells Recreation Center. Please remember you must
enroll your child(ren) in each week session. Enrollment in one session does not guarantee a space in the
following session. Payments will be accepted no later than the Friday prior to the session you want your
child(ren) to attend.
NOTE: Failure to make payment of twenty dollars ($20.00) per session will result in your child(ren) immediate
termination from the Summer Aftercare Program and no further enrollment will be permitted.

CAMP BEHAVIOR FORM
To insure a safe, fun camp and in fairness to all of the camp participants, the City of Riviera Beach Parks and
Recreation Department has devised the following behavior policies;
1. Listen closely to your counselor and follow his/her directions. Don't be afraid to ask questions if
you do not understand something.
2. Unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Examples of unacceptable behavior are (not limited to):
A. Inappropriate use of language and/or cursing, name calling or roughhousing
B. Violence or fighting of any kind
C. Being disrespectful towards campers, counselors and property
D. Refusing to follow instructions
E. Public show of affection
F. Unauthorized departure (leaving grounds without permission)
G. Smoking, alcohol, drugs or questionable symbols
3. Safety is of utmost concern and will be stressed continuously throughout the program. Please
report any unsafe conditions to a counselor.
4. We must respect the property of others, so help keep our camp area clean. Everyone will be
expected to do their part in helping to clean up after activities and at the end of the day.
Discipline measures are as follows:

A discussion between camper, coordinator/supervisor and parent will take place each time a camper is
written up for unacceptable behavior. After the 2nd offense, camper will be suspended from the program
and field trip for one or more days. After the 4th offense, camper will be dismissed from the program.
PLEASE NOTE THAT STEPS MAY BE SKIPPED IF THE OFFENSE WARRANTS THAT DECISION.
Offenses will be kept track of, in writing, by filling out the camp Disciplinary Action Form. Parents
will be notified of all offenses and will sign Disciplinary Action Form after each offense.
Refunds, full or partial will NOT be made due to disciplinary suspensions or early withdrawal. This
form must be returned, SIGNED BY PARENT AND CHILD, on the first day of camp.

Walking Club
Walking has long been described as being one of the best ways to lose weight.
For your walking pleasure and to walk one (1) mile at a casual pace, use our track
adjacent to Wells Recreation Center. Add an extra level to your walk and wear ankle or
wrist weights.
Be proud to wear your Riviera Beach Walking Club Tee-Shirt and other awards after
participating twice a week for a month.
When: Tuesdays & Thursdays starting January 19, 2010

WHAT:
Parents! Are you looking for something educational, but also fun for your child to do this
summer? Look no further. This program will provide your child with a basic understanding of
ocean and beach safety, lifesaving techniques and procedures, rescue board skills, and first aid.
They will also learn about marine life, and how to surf and snorkel. MUST KNOW HOW TO
SWIM & SPACE IS LIMITED.
