What different forms of active participation did the teacher use to engage the
students? (Thumbs up/down, slates, talk to neighbor, think about, list, draw, write,
look at, summarize, underline, note sheets, raise your hand, etc..)

Every few minutes 3-5, count how many students are “off” task.
Maybe they are in their desk, talking to off topic to neighbors, playing with toys
etc…

Add up the total counted number of students off task


Divide by the number of times you took data
Subtract that number from the total number of students in the
class.
And then divide by the number of students in the class.

Total time on task %_________ should be above 90%

class.
