Tues, 4/24 - TCHS Honors Night - Due to construction at Tift County High School,
the ceremony for Honors Night has been moved to the UGA Conference
Center. The conference center is located on 15 RDC Road in Tifton, Georgia.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24. The
students will process into the auditorium at 6:15 p.m. Please arrive early to
secure a seat. We are looking forward to celebrating the academic
achievements of the students of Tift County High School.

Fri, 3/30 – DEADLINE for graduating seniors who qualify for cords for
Debate or Mock Trial must turn in their money to Ms. Keen in RM 112. Cords are
$15/ea.
**EOC DATES HAVE CHANGED!!** - Due to receiving scores back from the state
prior to graduation, we have to move the Spring EOC testing dates back one
full week. Testing will begin on April 23 and end on May 4. Parents need to
make sure they do not plan trips or doctor's appointments if at all possible
during these dates. These tests count 20% of the course grade for the student. A
plus to the date change is that EOCs do not overlap with AP Exams this year!
Mon, 4/30 – deadline for poetry contest April is National Poetry Month and in
celebration the America Library of Poetry is holding a Poetry Contest. The
grand prize is $500 and the deadline is April 30. Turn your poem into Mrs.
Coleman in the media center or your Lit teacher.
Club News:
Congratulations to the Tift County FFA Ag Communications team, who recently
placed 5th in their Preliminary Round: Anna Bowen, Ivey Cook, Kaylie Roberts,
Meagan Taylor (5th High Individual in round)
The following FFA members have been announced as receiving their State FFA
Degree, the highest degree awarded a high school member. To qualify, these
members had to have an ACTIVE Supervised Agricultural Experience project
during which they invested/earned at least $1000 and/or worked 300 hours,
completed at least 25 hours of community service in at least 2 different
activities, and competed/participated in at least 5 FFA activities above the
local level. Please, congratulate these members who will have the opportunity
to receive these awards on stage at the 2018 Georgia State FFA Convention.

The following FFA members took their SAEs to the ultimate level and have won
1st place in South Region Proficiencies. They will be interviewing at the 2018
State FFA Convention and find out on stage if they won. These students are:
April Carroll (Ag Mechanics Design & Fabrication); Breon Nichols (Food Science
& Technology); Carter Ring (Turf Grass Management); Nathan Stainback (Lawn
Care Maintenance); Cody Waldschlager (Equine Science)
Caley Driggers was awarded the South Region Star Farmer and will be
interviewed by a State FFA panel on 4/9/2018 at her farm where she will have
one hour to tour the judges and answer questions. Caley will be honored on
stage at the State FFA Convention along with her parents and Advisors. A film
of her SAE will be shown to the convention hall, and she will find out on stage
whether she is the Georgia State FFA Star Farmer.
Fri, 3/30 - Sign-up for the Half-Court Shot worth $100 in the PBIS Student/Faculty
Basketball Game. Two lucky students will get the chance to make 3 free-throw
half-court shots. To enter drop by the library to put your name in the drawing.
Wed, 4/11 - Blood Drive will take place in the TCHS Wrestling Room all day
during the school day. Please sign up to save a life! A reminder that 16-year-
olds must have parent permission slip signed and returned. All paperwork and
sign-ups must be turned into Mrs. Blalock in Room 323
April 9 -20 - Blue Devil Marching Brigade Color Guard tryouts! Every weekday
from 3:45 - 5:30 PM in the TCHS Band Room. Grades 8-11 encouraged to
audition and transportation will be provided from Eighth Street Middle School
and Northeast Campus.
Sat, 4/14 – Girls Mental Health Awareness Event held at Matt Wilson @ 10:30 AM.
Girls should come with an adult and a friend from school to participate in this
informative and interactive session. Please note that all material is appropriate
for the 9th – 12th grade age group only.
Fri, 5/4 – Late Registration Deadline for 6/9 ACT test date.
Every Tues – FCA, 7:30 in ROTC RM A304 *NEW ROOM*. You may enter the
gym through the side student parking lot doors nearest the ROTC
classroom. You do not have to be an athlete to join and the club is FREE!

Every Wed - Game Development Club - NEW club for TCHS where students will
learn the basics of game design and development. They will learn such things
as code comprehension, basic unity interface, and 3D modeling. Meet in RM

Color Guard tryouts – April 9 – 20; 3:45 – 5:00 in the TCHS Band Room. Students in
grades 8 – 11 are invited to tryout; transportation will be provided from ESMS

CONGRATULATIONS to the TCHS Air Rifle Team – placing 1st in Region beating
Carver and advancing to the Final Sixteen.
CONGRATULATIONS to our Track and Field Team for Girls finishing 2nd and
Boys finishing in 4th place at the Lowndes Meet. Individual placements are as
follows: Girls: Emily Golden: 2nd in 1600 & 3200; Kiara Green: 2nd in Shot Put &
Discus; Nikki Jones: 1st in Triple Jump; Ali Stone: 2nd in High Jump. Boys: Mike
Jones: 1st in 110 Meter Hurdles; Otis Jackson: 2nd in Triple Jump; Chad Williams:
