Career Pathway Spotlight: Students Attending the CTAE STEM Expo Pilot Drones
Teaching as a Profession Through Obstacle Courses, Build Hydroponic Water Towers
and More!

This pathway prepares students for future
positions in the field of education. Students
study, apply, and practice the use of current
technologies, effective teaching and learning
strategies, and the creation of an effective
learning environment. Students plan
instruction based on knowledge of subject
matter, students, community, and curriculum
performance standards. The student intern
will also develop a portfolio of their skills,
plan and teach a lesson or lessons, and
practice confidentiality of the teaching
profession.

PRIMERICA
For 40 years Primerica has been helping
families – educating them about how money
works and offering products and services to
help them meet their goals. Primerica helps
people learn how to make their money work
for them using simple financial concepts.
Primerica bridges that education gap,
empowering the families we serve to make
better financial choices and to use the
products and services we offer to reach their
goals.

President is a member of the CTAE Advisory
Board, and an ongoing supporter of the
CTAE programs, students and events.
The 2018 CTAE STEM Expo hosted by Mundy’s
Mill High School offered elementary, middle and
high school students, parents and community an
opportunity to learn how science, technology,
engineering and mathematics impact their lives
every day.
 1500+ in attendance.
 The outdoor drone demonstrations included a drone that flew
290’ in the air (almost the length of a football field) while
transmitting live images to the drone pilot on the ground.
 Live demonstrations/shows were provided by a Global Science
Ambassador, Culinary Arts students, the Flying Classroom, and a
STEM magician!
 15 CTAE Career Clusters were represented by interactive CTAE
student sessions, colleges and business/industry exhibitors.
 Students and attendees piloted dozens of different drones and
Sphero robots (similar to Star Wars BB-8) through obstacle
courses.
 Students toured the inside of a police command center vehicle,
emergency medical response vehicle, a fire engine and one of
Clayton County Public School System’s most advanced school
buses.
 Students experienced coding, hydroponics, and video gaming.
 Attendees had the opportunity to view a 747 jet engine, build
using LEGO bricks, paint with spaghetti and experience a
human gyroscope!
