Scope:
By using these procedures and the correct tools recommended by BASF Chemical Companies Building
Systems, the user can extend the service life and retain the appearance of a MasterTop® SRS flooring
system. A proper maintenance and cleaning schedule is recommended for all MasterTop® SRS system.
Cleaning Equipment:
The following is a suggested list of tools for use on MasterTop® SRS floors:
• Automatic Scrubbers
• Power washers: up to 1,200 psi is sufficient
• Pads: White or red 3M or similar
• Brushes: Nylon non-abrasive Malish 8129 series are similar medium flex bristle brush. Brushes
should always be “broken in“ according to manufacturer’s recommendations, prior to use on a
MasterTop® SRS floor.
• Brooms: Medium/Stiff Bristle
• Mops: Synthetic for non-skid floors; cotton or synthetic for use on smooth floors.
• Wet Vacuums
Cleaning Products:
• Degreasing: A non-solvent based degreaser designed for the type of grease involved (animal
vs. Petroleum based).
• General Cleaning: A cold water Activated Butyl Cellosolve based cleaner such as Simple
Green or similar is recommended.
• Scuffs and Stains: An abrasive cleaner can be used for scuff marks and tougher stains.
Smooth Floor:
General Cleaning
• Sweep floor to remove any loose debris
• Most areas require the use of water based detergent. Dilute, mix and apply the detergent
following manufactures recommendations using a rayon or cotton mop. Allow the detergent to
penetrate for five minutes
• Scrub floor with stiff bristle broom or rotary floor machine equipped with a scrub brush.
• Remove contaminates with wet/dry vacuum or squeegee to drains
• Rinse areas thoroughly with cool, clean water and allow to dry. Use water for each rinse.
• Vacuum and / or squeegee to drains.

Deep Cleaning
• For stubborn spots a 3M Blue pad or medium – stiff brush can be used on a scrubber in
conjunction with a detergent.
• Scuff marks can be removed using an abrasive cleanser such as Comet, Ajax or similar cleaner.
• These areas should then be rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
Scratches/Damage
• Cuts, gouges, and rubber burns such as those cuased by fork lifts or sliding heavy equipment
across the floor can damage the MasterTop® SRS floor. If this occurs it should be addressed by
contacting an approved MasterTop® SRS applicator to make necessary repairs to prevent
moisture or contamination from entering the floor.
Deep Cleaning
• For stubborn spots a stiff bristle brush can be used by hand, an automatic scrubber, or hand
held buffer used in conjuction with a detergent.
• Scuff marks can be removed using an abrasive cleaner.
• These areas should then be rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
Scratches/Damage
• Cuts, gouges, and rubber burns such as those caused by fork lifts or sliding heavy equipment
across the floor can damage the MasterTop® SRS floor. If this occurs it should be addressed by
contacting an approved MasteTop® SRS applicator to make necessary repairs to prevent

Maintenance/Damage Prevention
• Wax stippers should never be used on a MasterTop® SRS floor. Amonia mixed with water can
remove most waxes.

• Through the use of proper training and education. Unnecessary wear of the floor such as forklift
spin and skid marks can be avoided.
• Spills should be cleaned up immediately as a safety precaution as well as to prevent staining of
the floor.
• Surfaces should be adequately protected when moving heavy equipment across the floor.
• Areas that are subject to oil, grease or harsh contaminants should be degreased and scrubbed
on a daily basis.
