THE ORDER OF WORSHIP

The Resurrection of Our Lord: Easter Sunday PRELUDE Jesus Christ is Risen Today arr. Wells
April 1, 2018 The Strife is O’er
Holy Communion (ELW V) WELCOME

INVOCATION AND EASTER PROCLAMATION

In the name of the Father, and of the (+) Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

On this day the Lord has acted most powerfully, most lovingly, once and for
all! Yet how astonishing this pronouncement must have been on that first
Easter morning. Mark’s account of the resurrection of Jesus emphasizes
the holy fear that must have grasped the women at the tomb. Filled now
with hope, we go forth to tell everyone the news: Christ is risen! Alleluia!
We rejoice this Easter morning as join Kristi Hudecek formally rejoins her
home congregation by publicly affirming with us her baptism into Christ.

CHILDREN are always welcome to our Worship Service. Rainbow bags

and a cry room are available. A staffed nursery is also available if needed.
An usher will gladly provide you with assistance.

As a worship courtesy, we ask that you please turn off or set to vibrate
all cellular telephones and pagers during the worship service.

We ask that all present today please fill out the Attendance and Communion
registration card found in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate so
that we may record your presence with us.

PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

O God, you are the creator of the world, the liberator of your people, and
the wisdom of the earth. By the resurrection of your Son free us from our
fears, restore us in your image, and ignite us with your light, through Jesus
Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
GATHERING SONG: Jesus Christ Is Risen Today (ELW 365)

GREETING

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of
the Holy Spirit be with you all!
And also with you!

KYRIE
CANTICLE OF PRAISE A MESSAGE FOR OUR CHILDREN

FIRST READING: Isaiah 25:6-9

More than 700 years before Christ, the prophet Isaiah proclaims the good
news of God’s salvation and calls all people to rejoice! The Lord will make
a rich feast for God’s people. The Lord will wipe the tears from their eyes.
And most importantly, the Lord will destroy death itself.
6
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines,
of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
7
And he will destroy on this mountain
the shroud that is cast over all peoples,
the sheet that is spread over all nations;
8
he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces,
and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken.
9
It will be said on that day,
Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us.
This is the LORD for whom we have waited;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

The word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Let us pray. O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for
our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the
power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him
forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
forever.
Amen.

Please be seated.

OFFERTORY HYMN:
God’s Paschal Lamb is Sacrificed for Us (Tune: ELW 422)

PREFACE

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (ELW 190)

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Worshippers are invited to bow with the consecration of the Lord’s body
and blood, each time the words “Do this for the remembrance of me,” are
spoken.

You are indeed holy, almighty and merciful God. You are most holy, and
great is the majesty of your glory.

You so loved the world that you gave your only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.

We give you thanks for his coming into the world to fulfill for us your holy
will and to accomplish all things for our salvation.

In the night in which he was betrayed,

our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body,
given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to
drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and
for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim
the Lord's death until he comes.

Remembering, therefore, his salutary command, his life-giving passion and

death, his glorious resurrection and ascension, and the promise of his
coming again, we give thanks to you, O Lord God Almighty, not as we
ought but as we are able; we ask you mercifully to accept our praise and
thanksgiving and with your Word and Holy Spirit to bless us, your
servants, and these your own gifts of bread and wine, so that we and all
who share in the body and blood of Christ may be filled with heavenly
blessing and grace, and, receiving the forgiveness of sin, may be formed to
live as your holy people and be given our inheritance with all your saints.
To you, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory in your COMMUNION
holy church, now and forever.
The body of Christ, given for you.
The blood of Christ, shed for you.
Amen.

All baptized people are welcome to the table to receive Christ’s body and
LORD'S PRAYER blood. If you have not been baptized, you are also welcome to the table as
Risen Lord, remember us in your kingdom, and teach us to pray: God’s guest; we are honored by your presence. We recognize the Body of
Christ as the community of the baptized, so if you would like to become part
of the Body of Christ, we encourage you to seek baptism. If you can’t or
don’t wish to receive today, we encourage you to hold your hands over
your chest for a blessing as you come forward.
