DRA-625R/425R uses a newly developed heat emitting unit by employing heat pipes. Since the heat pipes contain a
coolant, the DRA-625R/425R m u s t be set level or the desired heat emitting effect cannot be achieved. Always install this

When the switch is pushed, power is supplied, and the DISPLAY is lit.
It takes several seconds for the s y s t e m to operate after p o w e r o n . This is normal since the built»in muting circuit suppresses noise generated at p o w e r

PHONES (Headphones Jack)

BASS (Bass Control)
Use the control to adjust bass sound quality. When the knob is at the center, frequency characteristics under 100 Hz are flattened. When the knob is
turned clockwise, bass is emphasized, and when turned counterclockwise, bass is de‐emphasized.
TREBLE (Treble Control)
Use the control to adjust treble. When the control knob is at the center, frequency characteristics over 10,000 Hz are flattened. When the knob is turned
clockwise, treble is emphasized, and when turned counterclockwise, treble is de-emphasized.
BALANCE (Balance Control)
Use to control the balance between the t w o channels. When the knob is at the center, the amplitude of the amplifier at both channels is equal.
VARIABLE LOUDNESS (Loudness Control)
At low volumes human hearing is less sensitive to low (BASS) and high (TREBLE) sound. Use the variable loudness to compensate the insensitivity at
l o w listening levels, rotate this control counterclockwise until natural balance of BASS and TREBLE has been restored.

VOLUME ( Vo l u m e Control)
This controls the overall v o l u m e level. When the knob is turned in the clockwise direction, volume, increases. When turned counterclockwise, volume
decreases.
BAND SELECT (Band Selector B u t t o n )
This switch selects the Band, AM or FM, AM is displayed in MW in the indicator Q.
INPUT SELECTOR (Input Select Buttons)
This button is used to select the audio program source.
0 PHONO: Used to select the output from a record player that is connected to the PHONO terminal.
o TUNER: Used to listen FM or AM radio.
0 CD: Used to listen to a compact disc player or other component that is connected to the CD terminal.
0 AUX/VIDEO: Use when playing back the audio from a Hi-Fi video, TV t u n e r, video disc player or other c o m p o n e n t connected to the VIDEO or VCR
terminal.

This receiver uses a microcomputer. When the p o w e r is turned ON, the INPUT SELECTOR is initialized to TUNER position.

TUNING MODE (Tuning Mode B u t t o n )

This switch selects t h e tuning mode, automatic or manual tuning. The mode changes alternatively between AUTO and MANU each time the button is
pressed.
AUTOIMANU 0 Tights up the display.
AUTO: The FM or AM signal is tuned automatically.
MANU: The desired signal can be tuned manually.
F M MODE (FM M o d e B u t t o n )
This switch selects the FM mode, Mono or Stereo. In the Mono mode, MONO lights up and in t h e Stereo mode, STEREO lights up when a stereo signal
is being received. Furthermore, the FM mode can be stored at the preset channels along with the frequencies.
STEREO: FM stereo and m o n o signals can be received.
FM noise in no signal reception is eliminated in this position.
MONO: All FM signals are received in Monaural.
AM is not affected. If there is a lot of noise in the STEREO position, set the switch in the MONO position.
(D TAPE SELECTOR (Tape Selector Switch)
Toggle keys have been used fo‘r selection of TAPE-1 and TAPE‐Z. Pressing them an uneven number of times turns the function o n , pressing them an
even number of times turns the function off.

Use these buttons for either manual tuning or automatic tuning

0 Manual Tuning (Set the TUNING MODE @ "MANU" by pushing the TUNING MODE Button 0 . )
In FM mode, the frequency indicator moves in 100 kHz steps. In AM, the indicator moves in 10 kHz steps. If the button is pressed for m o r e than 1
second, the indictor moves quickly and continuously up or d o w n untiI released.
0 Automatic Tuning (Set the TUNING MODE 0 ”AUTO” by pushing the TUNING MODE Button Q . )
For example, w h e n the " u p " button is pressed, the frequency indicator moves up the band until a broadcast signal is received.
If no more signals are detected, the indicator moves to the upper limit and starts from the lower end.
(When the " d o w n " button is pressed, the indicatortravels down in the same way.)
While the button is continuously pressed, broadcast signals cannot be tuned; t h e indicator continuously travels up or down the band. Automatic
tuning is only provided for radio stations of usable strength; a sudden strong noise m a y disturb automatic tuning.
When the desired signal is weak, use manual tuning.
SHIFT (Shift B u t t o n )

This switch is used to register the desired radio station to one of the preset buttons m e m o r y. When pressing this button, the m e m o r y indicator ® lights
for approximately 5 seconds. During this interval, the desired station can be registered in the m e m o r y.
PRESET CHANNEL 1 ~ 16 ( S t a t i o n Presetting Buttons)
These buttons are used for storing or calling station. With the shift button myou can preset1 ~ 8 and 9 ~ 16 channels, a total of 16 AM and FM stations
in eight preset buttons. When the preset channel buttons are in operation, an indicator ( S H I F T I I I ) illuminates. When radio stations are memorized
with these buttons, a desired station can be easily tuned in without pressing the tuning buttons.

Pressing TUNING MODE @ causes AUTO and MANU to light up alternately.
SHIFT (Shift Indicator)
The preset channel which is selected with the Shift Button fl is displayed by the SHIFT or I.
SIGNAL LEVEL (Signal-Level Indicators)
This indicator shows the signal strength level of AM and FM broadcast station. The best position for reception is obtained when the maximum number
of indicator lamps are illuminated.
FUNCTION INDICATOR (Input Selector Indicator)
The program source selected by Input Select Switch or Tape Select Switch is displayed by the indicator.
MEMORY (Memory Indicator)
This indicator lights when the MEMORY button 09 is pressed.
CHANNEL
When using the channel preset button ‘ 9 , the channel is displayed and the frequency for that channel stored in m e m o r y is displayed in 6.
FREQUENCY DISPLAY (Frequency Indicator)
The frequency is displayed in numerals. It is displayed in MHz for FM and in kHz for AM.

FM ANT (FM Antenna Terminals)
Both 75-ohm coaxial cable and 300-ohm feeder can be connected to this terminal. For antenna connecting procedure, see the ANTENNA
INSTALLATION (page 7).
AM ANT ( A M Antenna Terminals)
Connect the attached AM loop antenna. (Refer to page 7 for connection).
Connect to this terminal when a medium wave outdoor antenna is used.
GND (Grounding Terminal)
The grounding wire of the turntable is connected here.
0 Hum or noise m a y be generated if the grounding wire is n o t connected.
TAPE/REMOTE CONTROL
This terminal is exclusively used for sending the r e m o t e control signals to the tape deck. Connect it with a 3.5mm mini-jack cord.

Note: Do n o t hook up a headphones or microphone jack cord. Use this jack to connect a Denon cassette deck w i t h a remote control jack
(wired).
If t h e cassette deck does n o t have this jack, wired r e m o t e control is n o t possible.

PHONO (Phono Input Terminals)

The output cord of the turntabie is connected here.
Since the input sensitivity of "PHONO" is extremely high, do not use the unit without the input pin c a r d If used without this cord, the speakers m a y
generate hum.
CD
The output cord of the CD player is connected here.
AUX/VIDEO
An AUX/VIDEO, such as a VCR or Video Disk m a y be connected here.
TAPE-1, TAPE-Z (Audio Playback and Recording Terminals)
Tape decks can be connected for full use including playing or copying.
PRE-OUT (DRA-625R only)
Output signals f o r p o w e r amplifiers are sent f r o m these jacks. The rated o u t p u t is 1.0 volts.
The signals do not pass through the bass and treble circuits.
SPEAKER SYSTEMS (Speaker Terminals)
The matching impedance of this amplifier is 6 ohms. Either o n e or t w o pairs of speakers m a y be connected. I f o n l y pair is connected the recommended
speaker impedance m a y be anywhere between 6 and 16 ohms. If t w o pairs are connected, however, it is advisable to use speakers with at least an 12
ohm impedance for optimum performance.
Connecting t w o pairs of 6 ohm speakers is n o t recommended.
Ac OUTLET (AC Power Outlets)
UNSWITCHED
This p o w e r outlet is available independently of the p o w e r switch. The p o w e r capacity is a maximum of 250 W.
SWITCHED
This AC outlet is controlled by the power switch. Maximum capacity is 100 W.
AC CORD (Power Cord)
Connect this cord into the wall outlet.
AM LOOP ANT ( A M Loop Antenna)
Correctly connect the AM loop antenna to the antenna terminal. Broadcasting cannot be received when the connection is incomplete.
Adjust the antenna for optimum reception while receiving the medium wave broadcasting. Do n o t place a pin cord, SP cord or electric cord near the
antenna. This m a y cause noise generation.
ANTENNA INSTALLATION
0 FM ANTENNA
The accessory T‐type indoor antenna (300 ohms) can be used inside wooden houses for local FM stations and strong signals.
Orient the T-shaped part for optimum reception and m o u n t the antenna on the wall or ceiling. ( F M indoor antennas m a y not
consistently ensure stable receiption, due to environment changes. In such cases use an FM indoor antenna temporarily until an
outdoor antenna is installed.)
75 ohm coaxial cable (3C-2V, SC‐ZV) is preferable to obtain better performance of the tuner.
( To use of a 300 ohm FM outdoor antenna, connect to the 300 o h m terminals.)
0 AM ANTENNA
Attach the accessory AM loop antenna to the antenna holder on the back panel.
Connect the leads to AM and GND terminal. Use this terminal also for an outdoor antenna.
Orient the loop antenna horizontally to obtain optimum reception. Where broadcast stations are distant and only weak signals
are received, or where signals are blocked by obstacles, install an AM outdoor antenna.
0 GROUNDING
If there is reception noise, use of grounding wire is recommended.
Connect a thick insulated wire to the "GND" terminal, and attach the unconnected bare end to a metal water pipe, grounding
rod, or grounded copper plate.
* Never connect the grounding wire to a gas pipe. This could cause fire or explosion.

 CAUTION
Protective Circuit
This set is equipped with a high speed protective circuit. This circuit protects the internal circuitry from damage due to large
currents flowing when the speaker jacks are not completely connected or when an o u t p u t is generated by a short circuit.
This protective circuit’s operation cuts off the output to the speakers. In such a case, be sure to tu rn the p o w e r to the set off and check
the connections to the speakers. Then t u r n the p o w e r on again. After muting f o r several seconds, the set will operate normally.

HOW TO PRESET THE STATION

1. Set the BAND SELECT button to " A M " or " F M " , a n d press the TUNING button to t u n e t h e desired station.
2. Specify the preset buttons 1 ~ 8 or 9 ~ 16 by the SHIFT button.
3. Press the MEMORY buttons and MEMORY indicator lights for about 5 seconds. During this time, press o n e of the eight PRESET
channel buttons.
4. The channel corresponding to the pressed button is displayed and the indicated frequency is stored in m e m o r y for that channel.
NOTE: If preset button is inoperative with MEMORY illuminated, press MEMORY and preset buttons again.
0 This model has a last channel m e m o r y system. It stores the last channel used power off.
0 This model is designed to store and retain the stations that have been previously registered in the m e m o r y, even if
the tuner is deenergized temporarily. The m e m o r y can hold resistered data for approximately about a month

PLAYBACK USING THE REMOTE CONTROL

The accessory RC-111 remote control unit is used to control the RECEIVER from a distance.

(1) Inserting the dry cell batteries
1 Remove the rear cover on the remote control unit.
2 Insert t w o size ""AAA (R03) dry cell batteries as
shown in the diagram on the battery supplv unit.
3 Replace the rear cover.
Notes on Use of the Batteries
0 The remote control unit uses size ”AAA”(R03) dry cell
batteries.
0 The batteries will need to be replaced approximately once
a year. this will depend upon how often the remote control
is used.
0 If, in less than a year f r o m the time n e w batteries were
inserted, the remote control fails to operate the receiver from a
near-by position, it is time to replace the batteries.
0 Insert the batteries properly, following the diagram on the
r e m o t e control battery supply u n i t , and making s u r e to
align the plus and minus sides of each battery.
0 Batteries are prone to damage and leakage. Therefore:
0 Do n o t combine n e w batteries with used ones.
0 Do n o t combine different types of batteries.
0 Do not jumper the opposite poles of the batteries,
expose them to heat or break them open, or p u t them
into o p e n fire.
0 When the remote control is n o t t o be used f o r a long period
of time, remove the batteries from the unit.
0 If the batteries have leaked, remove a n y battery fluid f r o m
the inside of the battery supply unit by wiping it o u t
thoroughly, and insert n e w batteries.

Le signal ne passe pas par les circuits des graves et des aigués.

L’impédance convenable est de 6 ohns. Une ou deux paires de haut-parleurs peuvent y étre connectés. Si une seule paire y est connectée, I’impédance
de haut-parleurs recommandée se situe entre Get 16 ohms. Si deux paires s o n t connectées, il est conseillé d'utiliser des haut‐parleurs d’au moins 12
ohms d'impédance p o u r assurer des performances optimales.
La connexion de deux paires de haut-parleurs de 6 ohms n’est pas recommendée.

Un céble coaxial de 75 ohm (3C-2V, 5C-2V) p e r m e t d’obtenir des performances optimales du t u n e r.

Fixer I'antenne cadre AM fournie au s u p p o r t sur le panneau arriz‘are.
Connecter Ies conducteurs :21 AM et GND. Egalement utiliser cette borne p o u r l’antenne extérieure.
Placer I’antenne cadre horizontalement pour obtenir une réceptionoptimale. Si Ies stations s o n t loin et que seuls des signaux
faibles peuvent étre regus, ou si Ies signaux sont bloqués par des obstacles, installer une antenne AM extérieure.
MISE A LA TERRE

 PRECAUTION
Circuit de protection
Cet appareil est pourvu d'un circuit de protection grande vitesse, qui protége les circuits internes des dommages provoqués
par les courants électriques importants circulant quand les prises des haut-parleurs ne sont pas correstement connectées ou
en cas de court-circuit.
Ce circuit de protection coupe la puissance passant aux haut~parleurs. Dans ce cas, couper l’alimentation de l’appareil, et vérifier la
connexion des haut-parleurs. Puis remettre l’appareil sous tension. II refonctionnera correctement aprés une mise en sourdine de
quelques secondes.

PREREGLAGE DES STATIONS

1. Régler 1e séleceur de bande ii AM ou FM, puis presser la touche TUNING p o u r syntoniser la station désirée.
2. lndique les touches de préréglage 1 a 8 cu 9 a 16 l'aide de la touche SHIFT.
3. Presser Ia touche MEMORY et l’indicateur MEMORY s’allumera environ 5 secondes. Pendant ce temps, presser l'une des huit
touches de présélection de station PRESET.
4. Le canal correspondant 23la touche pressée s’allume et la fréquence correspondante est mémorisée dans ce canal.
NOTE: Si la touche de préréglage est inopérationnelle quand MEMORY est allumé, presser MEMORY ET LA TOUCHE UNE
SECONDE FOIS.
0 Ce modéle est pourvu d’un systéme de mémorisation de derniére station. ll mémorise la derniére station captée
avant la mise hors tension.
0 Ce modéle a été congu p o u r stocker et mémoriser les stations préalablement mémorisées, méme si le t u n e r est nis

REPRODUCTION EN UTILISANT LA TELECOMMANDE

0 Ne pas mélanger des piles neuves avec des piles usées.
