DRAW WORK. -
The draw work is a set of propulsion components mechanical, which develops the
following functions:
TRANSLATION
•The pulley groove is treated by quenched cooling, anti-brasion with a long service
life
• Equipped with cable adjudication device preventing the cable from bouncing or
falling

TRANSLATION
SHEAVE.-
In oil use, the term refers to generally to pulleys installed permanently in the upper
end of the drill rig (the blocks of crown), or to the pulleys used to lower the tools
operated with cable in the well.
TRANSLATION
ROTATING UNION. -
A mechanical device that hangs on weight of the drill string. This designed to allow
the rotation of the drill string found below, carrying large volumes high pressure
drilling mud between the circulation system of drilling equipment and the string of
drilling.
TRANSLATION
A long steel bar, square or hexagonal, with a hole drilled in the center to provide a
path of fluid. The drill stem is used to transmit the rotary motion from the rotary
table or the stem bushing to the drill string, at the same time that you can lower or
raise the drill string during the rotation.
TRANSLATION
DRILLING MAST
The structure used to sustain the crown block and drill string. The Masts usually
have rectangular shape or trapezoidal and exhibit great rigidity, important feature
for equipment Terrestrial drilling whose mast is laid when the team moves. For
being more heavy that the drill towers Conventional drugs are not usually found in
marine environments, where the weight constitutes a more important concern than
in the land operations.
TRANSLATION
operaciones terrestres.
DRILL BIT.-
The tool used to crush or cut the rock. Everything found in a drilling rig directly or
indirectly assists the auger in crushing or cutting the rock. The auger is located at
the bottom of the drill string and should be changed when it wears excessively and
stops moving. Most drill bits work by scraping or crushing the rock, or both at the
same time, usually as part of a rotating motion
DRILLING EQUIPMENT OFF SHORE
Here’s a list of some of common devices and machinery that are involved in the
setting of a full scale and successfully running of an offshore oil field drilling
system. Offshore Oilfield extraction involves all of these,
Oil Platforms
Drawworks
Drilling Substructures
Mud Pumps
Blowout Preventers
Drilling Instrumentation
The offshore drilling equipment is divided into 2 groups: those supported on the
bottom and the floating ones
BARGE.-
This equipment is used in very shallow and protected waters such as bay rivers
and waters up to 15 meters deep.
This unit has 2 hulls; the upper one known as Texas, used to house the drilling
equipment, and the lower one where drilling is performed
TRANSLATION
JACK UP. –
It is a type of special platform used for drilling and repair of wells, has the ability to
move from one location to another, by means of self-propelled or tugboats. Thus,
the preforation is its main function either exploratory or development wells
Jack ups are used all over the world in very harsh environmental conditions
TRANSLATION
FIXED PLATFORM.-
The marine development of the drilling can be done through fixed platforms. They
are designed in such a way that drilling, termination and repair equipment can be
installed. The penetration of the subsoil is carried out in a tension of up to 100m
depending on the configuration. These equipment can drill an average of 12 wells.
TRANSLATION
SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE PLATFORM.-
These platforms carry out activities related to the exploration and drilling of wells.
They also support maintenance operations of existing facilities.
These platforms have propulsion systems in other words they are self-propelled.
These platforms can operate in deep water up to 500 meters but the field would
have to be very productive to justify fuel costs
TRANSLATION
DRILL SHIP.-
They were used extensively to fill the capacity space between the jack up and the
semi-submersible, and are those that have drilled in deeper water
These are the most mobile of all marine drilling units but they are also the least
productive
