    Format: You are writing a letter home from Baghdad while on your hajj during the Islamic Golden Age.
    5 Paragraph Essay format (Introduction, 3 Body Paragraphs, Conclusion)
    Spell Check & Edit all work/checkpoints/drafts
    All work looks professional. (Margins are in order, no crumply paper, etc.)

    Folder: You will get a folder to keep all of your research and work in. Bring this folder to class daily!

    Schedule: Thurs, Feb. 22nd: Introduction – Learn about the paper. What is a persuasive paper?
    Fri, Feb. 23rd: Discuss Baghdad & Golden Age. Choose Topics & 6 Scholars
    Mon, Feb. 26th: LIBRARY DAY #1 – How to research/save citations. PRINT 6 Articles (one
    for each scholar)
    Tues, Feb. 27th: LIBRARY DAY #2 – Topic 1 articles are due (read & annotate/turn in).
    Start Topic 2 articles
    Wed, Feb. 28th: LIBRARY DAY #3 – Topics 2 & 3 articles are due (read & annotate/turn in)
    Thurs, Mar 1st: CLASSROOM: Work on your Outline
    Fri, Mar 2nd: NO CLASS: Type Outline – must be submitted on Canvas
    Mon, Mar 5th: LIBRARY DAY #4: Bibliography & Internal Citation Learning
    Tues, Mar 6th: LIBRARY DAY #5: Outlines/Bibliographies returned. Start drafting.
    Wed, Mar 7th: LIBRARY DAY #6: Work on drafts and start peer editing.
    Thurs, Mar 8th: LIBRARY DAY #7: Work on draft, citations, bibliography. EDIT YOUR
    WORK.
    Fri, Mar 9th: LIBRARY DAY #8: TYPED Paper Due @ end of class w/ updated

    General Rubric Information:

    Basics: Follow all aspects of the Class Formatting Sheet


    Language/Mechanics: Sentence structure and word choice should be clear and effective. Edit the paper for spelling
    and grammar errors.
    Citations: All new material should be cited accurately. NOTE: Papers will NOT be accepted if annotated
    bibliography is not included
    Creativity: Essay should show creativity and should be presented with great thought and care. It should
    fully integrate the components of the assignment. The hajj should be thoughtfully included in
    the letter.
    Cultural Diffusion: The essay should reveal an understanding of what cultural diffusion is.
    Points: The essay and all preparatory steps will be worth 135 points
