Purpose of position:
Support the delivery of world class risk oversight for Operational Risk & Performance. This role is
responsible for providing effective risk oversight through targeted/thematic reviews across key risk
hot spots/emerging risks to assess how well risk is being managed across BNZ, and delivering
actionable insights to support continued focus on risk maturity across the enterprise.
Key accountabilities:
Targeted and thematic oversight activity to identify current risks and emerging trends
Leverage analytical tools to collate and analyse key risk data to monitor performance against key
measures and enable senior management to make informed decisions by delivering actionable
insights.
Communicate and present risk oversight observations with key stakeholders through various
forums to facilitate great risk conversations.
Play a key role in providing robust challenge and advice on portfolio oversight, risk appetite and
other risk management frameworks.
Stakeholder engagement through building and managing networks across the business, and
wider Risk team stakeholders to enable an effective oversight framework.
Supporting the Head of Operational Risk & Performance, and the Chief Operating Officer Risk
with various activities targeted at lifting assurance capabilities.
Be an advocate of risk, and promote a strong risk culture throughout the Enterprise.
To ensure legislative compliance, you are accountable for individual workplace health and safety

initial discomforts, accidents, incidents, workplace injuries and rehabilitation.

Experience:
Essential –
3 or more years’ experience in banking/finance/risk experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of attention to detail
Solid understanding of analytical techniques
Experienced working with visual analytical tools such as Tableau, Hadoop, Excel and other
Microsoft Office Software.
Desirable –
Experienced in Operational Risk, Compliance or Credit Risk.
Preparation and reporting experience an advantage.
Proven track record of problem solving in complex environments.
Qualifications:
Postgraduate tertiary qualification in disciplines of accounting, finance and/or project
management, advanced project management qualification.
