Subject: Math Learning Outcome:

- Students will be able to tell directions (up, down, left, right)


- Students (HA) will be able to write sentences including directions.
- Students (MA) will be able to label the directions.
- Students (LA) will be able to choose the right direction to color.

Paper, colors, pencils. Papers are enough for the whole class. there colored
pencils avalible for LA group.

Key vocabulary

Up – down – left – right.

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

- First, I will show the students my direction shirt (a shirt that has arrows), and then I will ask them
about their thoughts on what today’s lesson is going to be.
- I will introduce the LO for the class, and after that we will discuss the directions/ways, after that I will
let the class stand up in place and hear carefully to the direction I say and then turn towards it.
- I will introduce the group work to the class, I will tell them to use the checklist to know what they
finished.
- I will tell them that after they finish their activity they can push in their chairs and sit on the carpet to

Whole Group

- And then call them one by one to go to their groups.

Questions I may ask:

1- What do you know about directions?


2- Will someone please tell me, is there a limited number of directions?
3- Who is going to show me where left is?

Groups:

- Support group (LA) one has 6 students.


- Support group (LA) two has 7 students.
- Core group (MA) has 6 students.
- Challenge group (HA) has 6 students.

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)


Time:15 – 20 mins
Small Group

- This group will be sitting with me, I will devide them into two (same activity). Six will be sitting on the
table, and the other seven will be on the floor.
- They will read a sentence with the directions left, right. Then they will choose one out of the pair of
cat, owl, butterfly, etc. to color based on what the sentence says.
- Each student will have a checklist to know what are the things that they finished.
- When students are done they will follow teacher’s previous instructions.

Independent Experience (core group activity)

- This group will work individually, first they will read the instructions.
- After that the student would look at each picture and write what was the direction of the part that is
colored.
- They will use up, down, left, right.
- Each student will have a checklist to know what are the things that they finished.
- When students are done they will follow teacher’s previous instructions.

Independent Experience (small group activity)

- This group will work individually, they will read instructions.


- Then they will look at the colored picture and write a sentence using the words left, right, down, up.
Ex. The cat is looking up.
- Each student will have a checklist to know what are the things that they finished.
- When students are done they will follow teacher’s previous instructions.

Closing
Time:5- 7 mins
Whole Group

For the closing I will choose one student to be blindfolded and other students could tell him/her where to
go to find the hidden bear.

The students will use the words left, right, up down.

Assessment

I will observe the students as they work because it the first time the lesson is introduces and I will see who needs to
be in HA – MA – LA next class (checklist of names)
