1.1 Hardware
This document describes how to use a virtual DVD-ROM drive to install the OS. You can also
use a physical DVD-ROM drive, physical floppy disk drive (FDD), or virtual FDD to install it
in a similar way.
1.2 Software
Step 1 Obtain the OS installation file.
Prepare the Oracle 7.4 OS image or DVD.
Step 2 Download the driver installation package and driver version mapping table.
The following uses an XH321 V3 server as an example to describe how to download the driver
installation package.
1. Log in to http://e.huawei.com.
2. Choose Support > Server > Rack Server > XH321 V3 > Downloads.
3. Choose the latest version of the target server.
4. Download the driver installation package whose name contains "Oracle-Driver".
5. On the same page for downloading the driver installation package, download the driver
version mapping table.
1.3 Environment
Before installing the OS, configure the BIOS and RAID arrays according to the plan.
Step 4 Press F9 to restore the default settings and set System Time and System Date to the current
time and date.
Step 5 On the Boot screen, set Boot Type to Legacy Boot Type, select Boot Type Order, and press
Enter.
Step 6 On the Boot Type Order screen, press F5 or F6 to set the device where the OS is to be
installed as the first boot device.
Step 7 Press F10. In the displayed dialog box, select Yes and press Enter.

Step 3 Set System Time and System Date to the current time and date.
Step 4 On the Boot screen, set Boot Type to UEFI Boot Type.
Step 5 Press F10. In the displayed dialog box, select Yes and press Enter.
Step 6 Configure a RAID array. If the server uses the LSI SAS3108 or LSI SAS2208 RAID
controller card, you must configure a RAID array. For details about the configuration method,
see the HUAWEI V2&V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.

2 Installing the OS
Step 2 Restart the server, and press F11 when information shown on the following screen is
displayed. In the displayed dialog box, enter the password. (The default password is
Huawei12#$.)
Step 3 On the Boot Manager screen displayed after the password is authenticated, select Virtual
DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0 and press Enter.
Step 4 On the initial installation screen, select Install Oracle Linux 7.4 and press Enter.
Step 6 In the LOCALIZATION area, select a keyboard layout and language as required, and click
DATE & TIME.
Step 7 In the DATE & TIME window, select a time zone, set the time, and click Done.
Step 9 Select Server with GUI on the left pane and all software on the right pane, and click Done.
Step 18 In the INITIAL SETUP window displayed after the restart, click LICENSE
INFORMATION.

Step 2 Restart the server, and press F11 when information shown on the following screen is
displayed. In the displayed dialog box, enter the password. (The default password is
Huawei12#$.)
Step 3 On the Boot Manager screen displayed after the password is authenticated, select EFI USB
Device (Virtual DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0) and press Enter.
Step 4 On the initial installation screen, select Test this media & install Oracle Linux 7.4 and press
Enter.
Step 7 In the LOCALIZATION area, select a keyboard layout and language as required, and click
DATE & TIME.
Step 8 In the DATE & TIME window, select a time zone, set the time, and click Done.
Step 10 Select Server with GUI on the left pane and all software on the right pane, and click Done.
Step 12 Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, select a partitioning mode as required (for
example, I will configure partitioning), and click Done.
Step 16 Click ROOT PASSWORD. Set a password for user root and click Done.
Step 18 In the INITIAL SETUP window displayed after the restart, click LICENSE
INFORMATION.
