3.) Abortion, Euthanasia, Suicide, Scandal, Excesses or Abuse of Food,
Alcohol and Drugs, Anger or Hatred

3.1. Abortion- from conception the child has the right to life and the
Church imposes excommunication for this crime against human life.
3.2 Euthanasia or Mercy killing - Consists in putting an end to the
lives of handicapped, such as dying person is not acceptable
3.3 Suicide - Contradict the natural inclination of human beings to
preserve life.
3.4 Scandal - an attitude or behavior which leads others to do evil
3.5 Every kind of excesses - Abuse of Food, Alcohol, Tobacco, or use
of Drugs endangers human life and health
3.6 Organ transplant is morally acceptable when the donor has gives
his consent
3.7 Free gifts of organ after death is legitimate and meritorious.
3.8 Cremation is permitted by the church as long as it is not a denial
of faith in the Resurrection of the body.

F. Sixth and Ninth Commandment


Sixth Commandment – “you shall not commit adultery.”
Ninth Commandment – “you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.”
1. Jesus Said “But I say to you that anyone who looks at a woman
lustfully has already committed adultery in his/her heart.”
2. When God created man he gave him a special power to share in his
creative activity of bringing new life to the world.
3. But Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount insisted on a more strict
observance of marriage when He said.” I say to you, whoever
divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery.
4. When God created man” male and female” He said, “Be fruitful and
multiply.”
5. The union and man and woman in marriage is the origin of human
generation
6. Christ is the model of chastity and all are baptized to his particular
state of life; Single blessedness. Religious Vocation and Marriage
Vocation.
7. The 9th C Completes the 6th C by going to the root cause of disorder
of the flesh called “covetousness of the heart. From the mind stems
evil designs – murder adultery stealing, false which makes man
Impure.

Ex: The serpent tempted Eve and Said,” You will be like god.” It was
Cain’s envy that led to the murder of his brother Abel.

8. Sins against the 6th and 9th C are adultery, divorce, polygamy and
free union.

9. Some suggestions to develop values of chastity, self giving, equality


in dignity and love are.

a. Keep oneself busy


b. Watch movies with General Patronage
c. Never go out alone
d. Girls should not accept expensive gifts from men
e. Pray constantly

G. Seventh and Tenth Commandment


Seventh Commandment –“You shall not steal”
Tenth Commandment – “You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods”

1. God reminds us not to take things that belongs to others


2. It means exploiting on stealing from others what is rightfully theirs.
Ex: tax evasion gangling debts, overpricing.
3. Care for mother earth involves respect for the dignity of creation.
Ex: polluting rivers, seas and lakes with industrial wastes, destroying
of forest which causes floods
4. The 10th Commandment completes the 7th Commandment
4.1 The sin of covetousness causes craving for another property
but also envy of the success of others as in the story of Joseph
and his brother.
5. Sins against the 7th and 10th Commandment
5.1 Do not take borrowed objects or objects found
5.2 Do not pay unjust wages
5.3 Do not be enslaved by your possessions and obsessed with
getting none
6. Everyone should practice temperance, justice and solidarity
H. Eight Commandment.” There shall not bear false witness against
your neighbor.”
1. The Eight Commandment enjoins us to speak the truth at all times
and demands as to give due honor and respect to our fellow
humans in thoughts, words and actions
2. The 8th Commandment refers to public witness in a court of law
upon which life or death of the defendant depend upon.
3. When Jesus Christ was bought before Pontius Pilate he
proclaimed that He came to the world to be a witness to the truth.
4. As Christians we should not be ashamed to proclaim the Good
News and should not be ashamed of testifying to our Lord.
5. Offenses against the 8th Commandment
a. Boasting or bragging – it is speaking with exaggeration and
excess pride of oneself.
b. Lying – it is speaking or acting against the truth in order to lead
into error someone who has the right to know.
c. False witness – in court, a statement contrary to the truth when
under oath is perjury
d. Rush judgment – when one assumes as true without sufficient
foundation the moral fault of a neighbor.
e. Here are some ways to show respect into a person’s honor and
and good name:
1. If you cannot say anything good about persons, don’t
say anything it all.
2. Don’t spread false stories about a person.
3. Don’t tell other something that may embarrass a
person even if it is true.
4. Practice honesty: a dishonest person tells lies
5. Pray regularly – lies and untruthfulness are character
weaknesses. Prayers give grace to overcome this
weakness.
