MEET THE
WELCOME
Precision are excited to present our very first newsletter to all of
our loyal customers!
Our goal is to keep you informed on what Precision is up to and
offer a small insight of the ins and out of a working day at Precision.
Throughout the year, we will also share our stories and insights
from our board of Directors all the way through to our staff. Our
aim is to continue to maintain our strong relationship by bringing
you helpful information, ideas, and a little fun!
There are so many interesting experiences and opportunities to
learn and we hope our newsletter is just one way we can share
that information.
THE
MOVE
Moving a printing business of our size with our
daily commitments is the business equivalent of
wiring the house with the lights on while on acid...

So why consider such an expensive and disruptive project?

Your building is a production asset and to a degree a sales
and marketing tool, and for us the lack of space was
starting to be the beginning of every discussion regarding
any opportunity, and that’s not healthy. The longer you stay
in an unsuitable building the more compromises you make,
and your efficiency reduces. We moved from 3,300m2 to
5,100m2 in a brand new unit, but there was nothing in it.

We had to move 75 machines, 150 staff, offices, washroom,

lighting power, lighting cabling... The list is endless and
planning began 18 months prior to the move. It [moving
premises] will be the most complex and expensive project
you will ever undertake and for us it required two people
working on it pretty much full time during that period and ▲ Before and After - Factory Floor
as you can imagine they had day jobs.

We were aiming for a lean environment to deliver disruptive

print on demand solutions and leverage our London
location, the investment was significant so we are planning
for a large upside. How did it go? Well I personally have the
factory equivalent of post-natal depression. Visitors think
it’s wonderful and speak of how energised we all must
be, while I still can’t look at it or love it in the same way,
but I am sure that will come. The planning paid off and
fundamentally the move went well, I would like to thank
our customers for their patience (not sure what we did to
deserve it) and our staff for their hard work especially chief
operations officer Andy Skarpellis and Keith Middleton our
facility manager.

THE OFFICE
MEETING THAT
NEVER REALLY
MATERIALISES
We have all been there...
It’s Monday morning – up pops the calendar
reminder on Ben’s desktop, it’s 10 minutes
until the Marketing meeting – ah! Time to put
the kettle on... Susanne knows she has at least
20 minutes until everyone arrives. Gary and
Andy have already sent their “Somethings
come up” apology, Chris has taken a call, and
well Emma she can’t even get the video to
work. By the looks of it there’s no need to hurry,
there’s even enough time to quickly respond to
a few emails. There is certainly no need to rush
around for this meeting as it’s already running
30 minutes late!
This reality is one of the reasons why more and
more companies are holding off site meetings.
People react differently in outside, neutral
environments. Unlike scheduled meetings in
the company boardroom – where time is also
often spent with heads down doing emails on
your mobile, exiting for phone calls or noticing
random departures due to you being easily
contactable by your colleagues.
When you invest your time in an offsite meeting,
you have the opportunity to separate the daily
grind from the subject at hand. You can better
focus your team and hold them accountable for
follow-ups. It also provides an opportunity for
team building activities and social interaction
that otherwise is spent repeatedly going back
to desks and the usual daily routine.

offsite meeting at our new offices,

HOW TO SELL
PREMIUM PRINT PRODUCTS
For those reading this who work at a marketing agency,
you’re likely to be used to explaining to your clients why
print marketing is so effective – trust us, we’re right
there with you!
For those trying to sell the value of print products, especially
premium print products, it can be a real challenge. That’s
why we’ve created this guide for marketers on selling
premium print products to clients – and how they can
really add value to your clients’ business.
PREMIUM PRODUCTS CREATE PROFITABLE BUSINESS
If your clients want to stand out from their competition,
premium products will help them do it – most people can
buy basic-quality products, and have them as standard. By
slightly increasing investment at the print product stage,
they could create a big return on investment further down
the line.
THEY HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON BRANDING
Print is a very effective way to promote a brand – especially
when the message needs to be clearly communicated. For
example, the packaging for a luxury product needs to be as
luxury as the brand, otherwise a consumer won’t associate
the product with quality.
It’s very easy to add a premium feel to print products If
clients are wondering how they can add a premium finish
to standard print products, you can explain how little it
takes to give a premium feel…
INCORPORATE LASER CUTTING
On anything from gift tags to flyers and labels, laser cutting
can have a brilliant effect on your print materials. The
laser allows complex shapes to be cut out of the product,
creating complex designs with ease.
Laser cutting allows very complex shapes to be produced,
meaning short runs of special shapes are now economical
to produce too.
ADD SCODIX FINISHING
Scodix is a form of digital enhancement that leaves a
raised ink effect. It gives a raised finish that people want
to touch and interact with – and certainly adds a hint of
luxury. Scodix looks great on business cards, presentation
folders, menus and brochures.
Premium print products give the best first impression for
your clients’ business, and may be the determining factor
in whether they get a foot in the door or not. If you make
your customers aware that these products exist, and the
benefits they can have, they are much more likely to use
them for their marketing efforts.
