Abstract
I will be telling you about discourse community and how it combines with my RWS 1301
class. But I will also provide some of my research I have done to back up my information, but
also how RWS 1301 is a discourse community. I will be providing u with the six characteristics

In this research paper you will see that all six characteristics are followed in RWS
1301 .According to john swales in 1990 he stated that there's six characteristics that must be
followed. This step is as followed, mechanisms of intercommunication within its members, uses
mechanism to provide feedback and information, utilize different ways to communicate its goals
and help its cause, agreed set of public goals, demonstrate a form of lexis, and has threshold of
Literature Review
In RWS 1301 the six characteristics apply as followed we can give feedback to each
other when discussion is going on. As, well when it comes to goals and ideas is an agreement we
all have, for example in this class we use (logos, pathos, ethos, rhetoric, reflection) these
examples fall into one of the characteristics of lexis. Another characteristic that we use is
communication among us wither it could in the form for writing, speaking and even reading.

Methods
Some methods I used for my research where investigation and observation I also included
statements on swales and observations on RWS 1301 class. It also includes some specific items
Conclusion
As you can see a discourse community is based on a group of people that share a
common idea and are able to express that idea with in conversation and are able to feedback each
other. But also, to be considered a discourse community it has to be consist of the six
