I am privileged to write this letter of recommendation in support for my student, Adan Padilla. I have
known Adan since the beginning of the school year. I feel very fortunate to have him as a student in my
Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition class at Merced High School. Throughout the
year I have witnessed his tremendous growth and development, academically and personally. It is with
much pleasure and sincerity that I write this letter on his behalf.

Over the course of the year, I have seen Adan’s maturity and commitment to his education. He is an
intelligent and respectful young man. Academically, he has excelled in all of his classes. His current
grade point average is a very impressive 4.0! He is a dedicated student and an independent worker; yet,
he is very outgoing and interacts with other students in a positive manner. In addition to Adan’s excellent
academic achievement, he has also been actively involved in sports and extra-curricular activities on
campus. Aside from being a valuable member of our Track & Field and Cross Country teams for the last
three years, he has participated in and currently serves in a leadership role as President with FBLA. In
addition to his dedication to the athletic programs and organizations on campus, Adan has been a part of
our Merced Marching 100 for all four years and has served in the capacity of Captain for the last two
years. He is an extremely active young man who still finds time in his busy schedule to volunteer his
time to work with our youth giving back to the community. Adan’s academic achievement, work ethic,
and strong personal qualities account for his continued success.

I recommend Adan with absolute confidence. As a teacher, it is rewarding to watch my students not only
excel at the curriculum, but to also grow personally. Adan knows the importance of education and the
reward of strong personal character, and will be the first in his family to attend college. I have no doubt
that he will continue to rise to any challenge that he faces in college and beyond. He has set extensive
goals for his future and will undoubtedly fulfill them all with great success. It has sincerely been a
pleasure for me to know Adan and be his teacher. I highly and enthusiastically recommend him.
