LAMBDA  CHI  ALPHA  BOARD  OF  DIRECTORS  APPROVES  ALUMNI  CONTROL  

BOARD,  MEMBERSHIP  REVIEW  FOR  PHI-­‐SIGMA  CHAPTER  AT  CALIFORNIA  
POLYTECHNIC  STATE  UNIVERSITY  
 
INDIANAPOLIS,  April  11,  2018  –  Effective  immediately,  the  Lambda  Chi  Alpha  Fraternity  Board  of  Directors  has  
voted  to  continue  the  chapter  suspension  of  operations  of  the  Phi-­‐Sigma  chapter  at  California  Polytechnic  State  
University  while  an  Alumni  Control  Board  is  formed.  Terms  of  this  probationary  period  will  end  no  sooner  than  
April  29,  2019.  

The  Alumni  Control  Board  will  have  the  absolute  authority  to  act  in  its  discretion  on  behalf  of  the  chapter,  
including  the  power  to  carry  out  any  or  all  of  the  duties  or  functions  normally  undertaken  by  the  chapter,  the  
chapter  officers,  the  Executive  Committee,  and  has  the  power  to  establish  guidelines  for  its  own  operations.    

Furthermore,  the  Alumni  Control  Board  will  conduct  a  membership  review  and  discipline  members  of  the  chapter  
for  offenses  and  impose  the  appropriate  penalties,  which  will  include  expulsion,  suspension  or  probation.    

To  date,  the  current  chapter  officers  of  Phi-­‐Sigma  have  resigned  their  offices  and  two  additional  chapter  
members  have  resigned  their  membership.  After  the  membership  review,  any  remaining  members  will  be  
required  to  attend  educational  sessions  regarding  diversity  and  inclusion,  bystander  intervention,  cross  cultural  
training,  and  sign  a  behavior  contract.    

The  Phi-­‐Sigma  chapter  remains  on  suspension  and  any  additional  violation  of  university  or  Lambda  Chi  Alpha  
policies  will  result  in  the  further  disciplinary  action,  including  closing  the  chapter  for  a  period  of  no  less  than  five  
years.
