About Rocket (SEMINAR)
A cylindrical projectile that can be propelled to a great height or distance by the combustion of its contents, used
typically as a firework or signal.
Like many other engines, a rocket produces thrust by burning fuel. Most rocket engines turn the fuel into hot gas.
Pushing the gas out of the back of the engine makes the rocket move forward. A rocket is different from a jet
engine. A jet engine requires oxygen from the air to work. A rocket engine carries everything it needs. That is why a
rocket engine works in space, where there is no air.

About CanSat (WORKSHOP)

A CanSat is a small satellite having specific payload used to teach about space technology. It is similar to the
technology used in miniaturized satellite. No CanSat has ever left the atmosphere, nor orbited the earth. The CanSat
competition is a design-build-fly competition that provides teams with an opportunity to experience the design life-
cycle of an aerospace system. The CanSat competition is designed to reflect a typical aerospace program on a small
scale and includes all aspects of an aerospace program from the preliminary design review to post mission

Review. The mission and its requirements are designed to reflect various aspects of real world missions including
telemetry requirements, communications, and autonomous operations. Each team are scored throughout the
competition on real-world deliverables such as Schedules, design review presentations, and demonstration flights.

DAY 1 - Team Allotment:

Here in this workshop, the team work plays a very pivotal role. The team consists of a group of 5 members and
working on different sub-systems. A team can share out their work as follows: -

a) Circuit designing - 1 Member

b) Soldering the Circuits - 1 Member

c) Programming the development board - 1 Member

d) Parachute Making - 1 Member

e) Assembly and Launching - 1 Member

Task Allotment:
Day 1 Task: -
1. Introduction 8. Development Kit discussion
2. Satellite Theory 9. CANSAT Circuit construction
3. Electronics Theory 10. Soldering of circuit
4. Circuit Designing 11. Interfacing of sensors
5. Brain storming session 12. Programming
6. Session on Rocketry 13. Parachute making
7. Introduction about development board and 14. Assembling
Arduino
Day 2 Task:
1. Launching of CanSat using dropdown mechanism
2. Retrieve of data (Post-Flight Review)

The Can-Sat will be judged based on the following parameters: -

1. Question & Answers - Depending upon the question asked by trainers and answers given by teams
2. Software Designing – Accuracy in the Circuit designing and the problem statement
3. Soldering – Perfection in the soldering of the circuit is the major parameter
4. Functionality – CANSAT must satisfy the objective
5. Launching – Perfect decent using parachute
6. Results – How accurate the results were after the landing.

The teams are required to follow these criteria while working on their Can-Sat models.

Mission Objective

The mission of the workshop would be to design a satellite that will be fit inside the small jar. The sensors will capture
the environmental data and store the data via Bluetooth. We can launch the satellite with the help of parachute using
drop down mechanism. After receiving the CANSAT we can retrieve data from. Each CanSat will have a parachute
with which it will descend at a velocity between 3 m/s to 5 m/s. The circuit has to be designed for the following
objectives: -

i. Temperature of Environment

ii. Humidity in Environment

iii. Pressure

iv. Altitude from sea- level

All circuitry has to be fit into the CAN and all values will be displaying via Bluetooth on mobile phone. The data will
be having variation per second.

Circuit Designing
Parts can be placed on many sheets and connected together through ports.

Software Installation
Circuit designing compatible with Arduino Software. Team can do programming in Arduino Software. The SDNx
Programmer works based on a USBASP setup (inbuilt on development board), hence plugging in a programmer and
installing USB-ASP would be required to program the development boards (Inbuilt on development board).

Retrieve Data using Bluetooth

Teams can retrieve the data using Bluetooth Terminal app. The application will be retrieving data with the variation
of per second.

REGISTRATION FEES:
There will be 5 members in every team.

800/- Nepali Rupees per student – Without KIT
