Dear Sir/Madam,

With this letter, I would like to express my sincere interest in studying at the Charles University as an exchange
participant. I am currently studying on my second year for Bachelor's Degree in International Relations as a part of
Social and Political Sciences at the Ivana Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

Having looked through the materials of the Foreign Department of my university, I was extremely delighted to find the
opportunity o spend one semester learning at the Charles University considering the fact that I have had an honor to
visit it during my last trip to Prague. I am very determined to apply for this program because I am sure it would strongly
enhance my future studies and help me in my forthcoming career. Moreover, I consider this program as a unique
opportunity to get in touch with czech culture and educational system. Last but not least, I am very inquisitive about
different approaches to the internal as well as international politics' studies at the foreign university.

I have selected as my prior choice to apply for Charles University. I was entranced to perceive its module system of
study, though. Especially, I appreciate the wide range of offered modules in terms of transnational, international and
regional policies and different approaches towards them. Many of the modules offered are exclusive for me. However,
there is no equivalent at my home university.

For instance, I was more than glad to have seen great variety of subject connecting with EU and it’s policies. I am
triggered to enlarge my knowledge about the union in one of the member-states. Considering the fact that EU is one of
the leading actors on international as well as on regional level, it is indispensable for international relations specialist
not to have a immense awareness about this issue. Getting into more depths of this organization we can clearly see
both it’s counter-governmental and supranational character, that makes it uniquely thought-provoking. However,
Georgia is on it’s early steps towards European integration and it has become widely debatable subject. Additionally, I
have given an opportunity to learn about EU strategies and attitudes about eastern neighboring states, that is also
extremely entrancing for me as a future Georgian International Relations’ specialist. It is very useful to get to know the
viewpoints of member-state considering those topics, though.

I was delighted to find out some academic courses about conflicts in Caucasus paying attention to it’s ethnic or social
contexts. Thus, I would like to learn one of these subjects acknowledging the on-going conflict with Russia and the
major problematic issue of Georgian diplomacy. Besides that there are lots of aspect we have to take into account
throughout analyzing conflicts in South or Northern Caucasus regions and this is my chance to study more about this
realm too.

The second main reason why I have chosen Prague University is its high-quality research institutes and the opportunity
to take part in scientific conferences that is very important for developing young researchers. Wide range of
departments in terms of international relations and foreign policies will give me a chance not to pause my continual
practical learning in research methods and get advanced. In fact, I plan to imperfect my education by receiving Masters
and even PhDs degrees. So, I believe that cooperation will become a great support for my forthcoming career.

I would very much like to spend one semester at the Charles University. This would give me a chance to deepen my
political knowledge in the inspiring, creative and cosmopolite environment. Furthermore, I believe that my experience
in Prague would be extremely stimulating, valuable and impactful for both my professional and personal improvement.

Thank you for considering my request.

Yours faithfully,

Ani Tsamalashvili
