association between two variables, denoted by r. (Green & Salkind, 2017). Simply, Pearson
Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient tries to draw a line the best way through the data of
two variables, and the coefficient r, shows how far away all the data points are to the line.
The Pearson correlation coefficient, r, can take a range of values from +1 to -1. A value
of 0 indicates that there is no association between the two variables. (Green & Salkind, 2017).A
value greater than 0 indicates a positive association or the value of one variable increases, so
does the value of the other variable. A value less than 0 indicates a negative association or as
the value of one variable increases, the value of the other variable decreases. (Green & Salkind,
2017).
Research Question
Is there a statistically significant relationship between age and number of weekly safety
incidents?
Hypotheses
to assess whether there was a statistically significant relationship between age and
number of weekly safety incidents. (Green & Salkind, 2017).The assumptions of normality,
linearity, and homoscedasticity were evaluated with no significant violations noted (see
Figure 1). The results were significant there was a strong positive correlation between
the two variables, r = .244, n = 80, p = .029, with low levels of age and high number of
Table 1 depicts descriptive statistics for the study variables. Figure 1 depicts a
