REASON OF HEALTH OR NOT?

As we are now living in the world where some of the alternative medicine industry is popular
as ever, so, it should come as no surprise that some product are claim to be good for our
health. Even in Cleopatra’s time, magnetic bracelets are belief by the people to be the cure for
several health disease. Scientists, businesspeople, and people seeking relief from pain and
disease all have their own opinions on magnetic bracelet. As in Islma, man are not allowed to
wear anything that make them to be similar like the woman, so here rise the issue regarding
this matter.

This issue poses a question mark because magnetic bracelet is said to produce a
magnetic energy that has a good effect for the male in terms of health as mostly stated
that it will able to smoothen the flow of blood of the one wear it. The issue arise, as when
there are man who wear the magnetic bracelet just because they want to follow the trend.

One of the famous magnetic bracelet in the Malaysia market is the E-Dymium. E-Dymium

BENEFITS OF MAGNETIC BRACELET

The magnetic bracelet help human in their health through healing the wounds and painful

purpose and not to detect, cure, prevent or cure any disease. The results may vary between

On 30th January 2008, Negeri Sembilan Fatwa Research Panel invited Y.Bhg Dr Abu Bakar
bin Abd. Majid, Lecturer at the College of Medical Sciences, Cyberjaya University and he is
also a Member of the Malaysian Medical Association of Malaysia give a briefing on the
effects of Static Magnetics on human health. He states that no comprehensive study has been
made regarding the effects of Static Magnetic on human health either in Malaysia or
International. This is because the financing of one study is costly. The comprehensive
medical scientific study contains four stages which is (RCT) Randomise Control Type is a
random study, study on target group, follow (keep track of) and the view from the expert.

According to the health point of view there are no accurate points regarding the effects of
Static Magnetics on human health. There is only the explanation of the testimonials, the
personal recognition of its effects and it is not accepted as evidence by the Ministry of Health
Malaysia because there is a placebo element that is element of fraud. WHO states 'Static
Magnetic Field' does not advocate health and no statement regarding its health effects. There
are also criticisms that many workers working in high static magnetic field areas do not have
any health benefits.
BASIC CONSIDERATIONS

1. Wearing bracelets for jewelry purposes.

It is illegal for men to wear bracelets as self-adornment according to Islamic law. It is based
on the hadith from Ibn Abbas r.a he said:

‫بالنساء الرجال من المتشبهين وسلم عليه هللا صلى هللا رسول لعن‬, ‫بالرجال النساء من والمتشبهات‬.

Which means: The Messenger of Allah ‫ وسلم عليه هللا صلى‬cursed a man who imitated the style
of a woman, and a woman who imitate the male style .

Similarly, the hadith narrated by Abu Daud, al-Nasa'ie and Ibn Hibban, from Abu Hurairah
r.a said,

‫المرأة لبسة يلبس الرجال وسلم عليه هللا صلى هللا رسول لعن‬, ‫الرجال لبسة تلبس والمرأة‬.

Which means: The Messenger of Allah ‫ وسلم عليه هللا صلى‬cursed the man wearing the clothes of
women and girls wearing men's clothes.

2. Medical Purposes

On the other hand, there is a proposition that requires prohibited matters to be used for
medical purposes.

The word of Allah swt, which means: ... then whoever is forced, because of starvation
accidentally sinning, surely Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful

While from the hadith, Banned on men wearing gold jewelry even for purposes placed on
war tools. This is based on hadith which means:

The gold and the silk are for women among my people and forbidden to men. Unless
the nose has been damaged, it is required to use gold. This is because some of his
companions broke his nose in a war he used nose made of silver, but it became foul
and the prophet had ordered the companion to use the nose made of gold.
Based on Hadith Musnad Ahmad:

‫فأنتن فضة من أنفا فاتخذ )حرب( الكالب يوم أنفه أصيب أسعد بن عرفجة أن‬, ‫من أنفا يتخذ بأن )ص( هللا رسول فأمره‬
‫ذهب‬.

That is to say, The Essence of 'Arfajah bin As'ad who cut off his nose during the Kilab war,
he had used a nose made of silver, but it became foul and Rasulullah SAW had ordered him
to use a nose made of gold.

3. Qias

4. The fiqhiyah method

Emergency requires prohibited objects.

‫المحظورات تبيح الضرورات‬

‫يزال الضرر‬

‫بقدرها تقدر الضرر‬

5. The view of the scholars'

Fatwa Syeikh Hasnin Makhluf, dated 18th November 1946, states: Then filling and closing
teeth with gold of silver is a must

CONCLUSION
Recommending to members of the Fatwa Committee:

It is haram for men wearing magnetic bracelets for the purpose of jewelry based on the
general ban on the hadith of the Prophet. But it is suggested for a men to wear magnetic
bracelets for medical purposes provided that they have been proven by scientific studies of
medical science. However, the use of magnetic bracelets should be cautious because of fear
of causing the element of misleading aqidah.If magnetic bracelet is not beneficial to health, it
should be left behind

So based on the decision of the Fatwa Committee Meetings No 1/1429 on 20 Safar 1429H,
which simultaneously on 27th February 2008M It is illegal for men to wear magnetic
bracelets because the wear of the bracelets is more like women (‫)بالنساء تشبه‬.
