WORK METHODOLOGY FOR  REINFORCEMENT WORKS

Objective – The objective of this method statement is to describe in detail all the 
operation concerned with the Logix Blossom County Project. 

Scope   of   work   –  As   per   B.O.Q.   Item   number   2.08,   to   execute   323935   Sqm
formwork at all levels

Resources used
1. Materials:  Plyboards,   Wooden   Battens,   Nails,   Fabricated   Steel   plates,
Hollow   sections,   MS   Flat,   joint   fillers,   Shuttering   oil,   Tie­rods,   bricks,
cement, sand

2. Machinery   and   Tools:  TowerCrane,   Ply   cutting   machine,   hammer,

Staging and Scaffolding accessories, trowel  wherever required etc

3. Manpower : Engineer, Supervisors/Foremen, Carpenter Gangs.

WORK METHODOLOGY
a) Initially,   drawings   are   studied   to   estimate   the   type   and   quantity   of
shuttering to be done for the casting.
b) Approval   for   usage   of   steel   boards   or   ply   boards   for   shuttering   with
necessary   drawing   details   is   sought   by   client   depending   upon   structure
type. 
c) If shuttering is done by steel boards, made of steel plates stiffened with
angle frames, then they are jointed together by nuts and bolts. And, if the
shuttering is of ply boards then they are stiffened with battens nailed into
it. Where both of them is difficult to be provided in terms of workspace
and   accessibility   then   brick   masonry   is   executed   to   act   as   shuttering
system.
d) In   Raft   and   Columns,   shuttering   is   done   after   the   placement   of

reinforcement   rods   whilst   in   Slab   and   Beams   it   is   done   prior   to

reinforcement works.
e) Shuttering boards are erected and made tight enough to prevent the loss of
mortar   from   concrete   to   produce   dense,   homogeneous   and   uniformly
coloured completely free from surface roughness. 
f) Joints in the shuttering shall be taken care well enough to prevent leakage.
g) After   certain   height,   access   for   placing   shuttering   boards,   is   done   by
providing   scaffolding   with   approved   accessories   and   system.   The
shuttering for slab and beam is executed on the scaffolding erected for this
purpose.
h) The shuttering boards will be free from encrustation of mortar, grout or
other foreign material. The surface where concrete will be in contact, will
be coated with shuttering oil that will effectively prevent sticking and will
not stain the concrete surface.
i) Client’s representative shall be notified for checking after the execution of
shuttering in terms with adequacy of supports, plumb, level etc., and after
obtaining approval concreting is done.
j) After concreting and after maintaining the formwork for the approved time
or as per IS Codes, the formwork is removed carefully so as to prevent
damage to the concrete.
k) The removed forms are stored and maintained in such a way so that it can
be reused till they seem fit for this purpose.

SAFETY MEASURES:
2. Provisions for workmen: All persons working at the site shall be provided with
the safety equipments, protection means such as hand gloves, safety helmets
and other necessary kinds.
3. Provisions for Equipment, Machine: 
a) All   equipment   will   be   ensured   to   operate   safely,   maintained   and
repaired periodically.
b) All power equipment should be insulated and covered to all exposed
live parts.
c) A competent person shall inspect equipment during shift duty.           
4. Provisions for Job Site:
a) Relevant Caution boards and sufficient lighting system shall be installed
at the working area to ensure safety for construction activities at night
time.
b) The working area shall be free from hazards before starting the work.
c) Unnecessary   materials   such   as   empty   bags   and   rubbish   shall   be
removed periodically.
