Assisted in teaching Writing for Non-Native Speakers of English (ESOL 20), an intermediate

ideas (reading skill), etc. Orchestrated course themes. Met weekly with a mentor professor to

Taught reading to all ages—4 years through adults—including phonics, sight words, vocabulary,
comprehension, speed-reading, and study skills. Assessed reading levels and gave out
personalized book-level recommendations. Gave personalized feedback and instruction to
students and students’ parents. Led discussions on fiction and non-fiction literature at various
reading levels. Led enrichment activities for younger students, including dramatizations,
dictations, choral reading, and art projects. Managed classrooms and classroom behavior at
various sites throughout the Sacramento and surrounding areas.

College Access Tutor
Tutored junior high students on-site at Toddy Thomas Elementary School in reading, writing,
comprehension, critical thinking skills, essay structure, vocabulary, and public speaking. Worked
in the after-school program, EXCEL, offering homework assistance to students K-8. Worked at
IBAC workshops throughout the school year, leading junior high students on college campus
tours and answering questions. Completed over 40 hours of tutor training.
