I have had the pleasure of working with Jackie Paxson in my position as a special education teacher in
our inclusive general education classroom since January of 2018. I highly recommend Jackie as a candidate for
a teaching position.

Since January, Jackie has been working with a variety of students, both with and without special needs.
Jackie successfully planned and implemented lessons in the content areas of English Language Arts,
Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. In addition to teaching whole group lessons, Jackie worked
specifically with a small group of students to better support their reading fluency and comprehension skills.
Jackie aided these students in making significant academic gains through well planned, strategic small group
instruction. Jackie demonstrated a true understanding of the students’ strengths, as well as areas in which the
students needed to improve. Jackie’s knowledge of the students, curriculum, and academic standards proved to
be an asset to our small group guided reading practices.

Jackie attended many IEP meetings, so as to familiarize herself with the process of developing and
implementing an IEP. Additionally, Jackie observed and partook in data collection both prior to and following
the implementation of students’ IEPs. Jackie’s active involvement in this process better prepared her to
implement strategies to best support all of the students in our classroom.

Jackie has a wonderful rapport with the students in our class, as well as the teachers and building staff.
Jackie’s implementation of positive behavior support strategies was effective in supporting our students in self-
regulation skills and improved our overall classroom management. The students enjoyed and responded to
Jackie’s positive, and clam demeanor.

Throughout the entirety of her time at MaST II, Jackie demonstrated true professionalism and dedication
to her role as our student teacher. I recommend Jackie without any hesitation. Should you have any further
