# LIST OF TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS AND CORRECTIONS

## CHAPTER 4: TENSION MEMBERS

 The caption of Table 4.1 is missing. The table caption has been inserted in the
updated version as:

## Table 4.1. Reduction factors  2 and  3 .

p1  2.5d o  5.0d o
Pitch
 2 (for 2 bolts) 0.4 0.7

##  3 (for 3 or more 0.5 0.7

bolts)
Note: for intermediate values of pitch p1 values of  may be determined by linear
interpolation. d o is the bolt hole diameter.

## Note that Table 4.1 is mentioned in example 4.1.

 In example 4.1, in the case of a Welded connection, the gross cross-sectional area
(based on the section tables given) is A=1910 mm2 and not 1920 mm2 as written.
The difference between these values is very small and the results are practically not
affected.

## CHAPTER 6: COMPRESSION MEMBERS

 In Equation (6.20) it is   1.0 and not   0.1 . In the updated version this is
corrected and thus Equation (6.20) reads
1
 , but   1.0 . (6.20)
  2   2

##  In Example 6.1, at the calculation of buckling curves, due to a typo,  appears

where the value of  should be, while the value of  appears for  . This is just a
typo and the results are actually correct. In the updated version, this is fixed and it
reads
Buckling curves – major (y-y) axis
 y  0.5[1  0.21(0.98  0.2)  0.982 ]  1.07
1
y   0.68
1.07  1.072  0.982

## Buckling curves – minor (z-z) axis

 z  0.5[1  0.21(1.76  0.2)  1.762 ]  2.21
1
z   0.28
2.21  2.212  1.762

CHAPTER 7: BEAMS

## Wy =Wpl,y for Class 1 or 2 sections

Wy =Wel,y
for Class 3 sections
Wy =Weff,y
for Class 4 sections

 In Example 7.1, for the web classification, there is a typo in the calculation of
distance c. It is
c=458-2x15-2x10.2=407.6 mm and not 360.4 mm.
Then, it is
c/tw=407.6/9.5=43.
Nothing changes in the cross-section classification since the class is 1.
CHAPTER 8: BEAM-COLUMNS

## Cm  0.6  0.4  m (8.4)

(where  m is defined in figure 8.1 as the ratio of the bending moments applied to
the ends of the beam-column and it is  m  1 ).
