Anatomy of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

Is an enlarged prostate gland. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. As the prostate gets
bigger it may squeeze or partly block the urethra. This often causes problems when urinating.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is not simply a case of too many prostate cells. Prostate growth includes hormones, occurs in different types of tissue eg,.
Muscular and glandular.) and affects men differently

As a result of these differences treatment varies in each case. There is no cure for BPH and once prostate growth starts, it often continues unless medical
therapy is started.

The prostate grows in two different ways in one type of growth, cells multiply around the urethra and squeezes it, much like you squeeze a straw.the second
type of growth is middle-lobe prostate growth in which cells grow into the urethra and the bladder outlet area. This type of prostate growth typically requires
surgery.

BPH occurs in almost all men as they age. BPH is not a cancer. An enlarged prostate can be a nuisance. But is usually not a serious problem. About half of
all men older than 75 have some symptoms.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia also known as benign prostatic hypertrophy.
