Gas Volume Converter

Itron’s latest-generation gas electronic volume converter (EVC) has been designed specifically for
diaphragm and small-range RPDs. Its compact size fits to the limited available space of small cabinets.
Corus Compact is compliant with all metrological requirements of MID (EN12405-1:2005+A2:2010) as
well as functional requirements of ARG 155-08 and CIG UNI TS11291. Data transmission to a central
system is achieved via an external GSM/GPRS modem, creating a remote reading solution that is both
simple and cost-effective.

Despite its small size, Corus Compact
contains the technology required for
accurate gas volume conversion, as well
as for transmitting that data to the central
system through a GSM/ GPRS network.
Corus Compact and its modem are housed
in IP 65-rated enclosure. Their small size
and a friendly user interface with a graphic
LCD display, makes installation in field
very easy. Approved for use in zone 1
hazardous areas, Corus Compact can be
installed inside the station cabinet, limiting
installation costs and vandalism risks.
Corus Compact creates and maintains
different consumptions logs—as well as
event and parameter logs—which are useful
for diagnostic purposes; the database for
these logs is compliant with UNI TS11291.
Data can be transmitted via GPRS at
programmable intervals using an external,
dedicated modem (Focus Compact ATEX).

Corus Compact utilizes the DLMS/Cosem
communication protocol—a worldwide
standard in the metering world which can
be used in HLS (High Level Security) mode,
enabling encrypted communication.
An internal communication port allows
flexible data transmission via wired or radio
interfaces to external modem/concentrators
for further transmission to central system.
Internal batteries provide an average of
five years of uninterrupted service under
typical usage conditions, including daily
data transmission to a central system.
Batteries are field-replaceable and can
be exchanged without breaking the
metrology seal.
