5 Firmware installation
The complete procedure takes about 15 minutes.
Step 1 : Unplug the power cable
Step 2 : Open the back cover (11 screws) of the DrafStation.

Step 3 : Remove the cover, but be very careful not to scratch the sides of the printer.

Step 4 : Connect Power cable and network cable to the printer.

Step 5 : Switch on the machine in normal user mode.

Step 6 : Press the Menu button to enter the menu.

Step 7 : Use right arrow key to scroll to the Network menu.

Step 8 : Set the IP address and press ENTER.

• For example 192.168.1.253

Step 9 : In the network menu, use right arrow key to scroll to Subnet Mask

Step 10 : Set Subnet Mask and press ENTER.

• For example 255.255.0.0

Step 11 : Switch off Machine

Step 12 : Change Dip switch 2 position to ON. Please remember to put the switch back after the Firmware
installation.

Step 13 : Start machine while holding down the left arrow key until you enter the Board Manager mode.

Step 14 : The IP address of the printer will be displayed (default: 192.168.1.253).

Step 15 : Press the ENTER key. “Waiting for command” will be displayed.

Step 16 : It is recommended to update the firmware via a crosslink cable (direct connection between
printer and pc).

Step 17 : Configure the network settings as follows.
Start ► Control Panel ► Network Connections ► Properties Local Area ► Properties Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) ► Set IP address! (first 3 numbers (192, 168 and 1) should remain the same,
the last one (253 ► 252) should be changed) ► Press OK ► configuration done.

Step 18 : Open the MUTOH Maintenance Engineer Assistant.

Step 19 : Set required language in the manager.

Step 20 : Set the IP address of the printer in the manager.

Notes
• Make sure your computer has an IP address in the same range as your printer. For example
192.168.1.253 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0
• Consult your admin for more info if needed.

Step 21 : Click on the button “Firmware Install”.

Step 22 : Browse to the Drafstation_V100.rom.jfl file and press Open.

(Refer to the picture below for an example)

Step 23 : Click OK when the “Firm Installation Check” window is displayed on the PC.

Step 24 : The following screens will be displayed on the printer.

Program receiving

Erasing ..

Copying ..

Comparing

Transfer complete

Step 25 : Click OK when the “Transfer completed” window appears on the PC AND when it is displayed on
the printer.

Step 26 : Press the ENTER key. “Waiting for command” will be displayed.

Step 27 : Switch OFF printer, set Dipswitch 2 back in OFF position

Step 28 : Installation of the firmware is done.

Step 29 : Restart the printer to check if the LCD display mentions RJ900-pro at start-up.
