Long Island New Jersey

Despite what your social media feeds tell you, not everyone in
New York has the luxury of living in Southampton for three straight
months starting in June.

And even if they did–so what?!–summer in and around the city is

fun if you don’t mind frequent rat encounters and the smell of boiling
hot garbage outside your stoop.

Here, we’ve compiled several summer-y ideas to partake in throughout

New York and New Jersey to reverse the FOMO you’ll experience
watching your friends frolic in the Adriatic Seas of Croatia during Yacht Week.
Ruggy J.

Honorable William Wall

$$ Bars

385 S End Ave, Ste 20L, New York

willywall.com

To our knowledge, The Honorable William Wall is New York’s only floating
clubhouse. It’s a 90-foot steel barge with an open-air upper deck that was
first introduced to New York in 1987 by the Manhattan Yacht Club as a
way to get a better glimpse of the sailboat races happening in the Lower
Manhattan harbor.

These days, it’s a seasonal after work destination for anyone who enjoys
a cold drink with a great view (a.k.a., you). You’ll need to take a boat to get
there, so be sure to hop on the website to secure your spot.

La Marina
$$$ American (New), Venues & Event Spaces, Lounges

348 Dyckman St, New York

lamarinanyc.com

La Marina, in the Dyckman Marina, has been a vital part of Upper Manhattan’s
unique waterfront culture for more than two centuries. Nestled just below the
Cloisters at the end of Dyckman Street along the Hudson River, it’s the ideal
Uptown spot to enjoy cocktails at sunset. The views are definitely the biggest
draw here, so grab a spot on the patio and stay awhile.

North River Lobster Co.

$$ Seafood

Pier 81 W 41st St, New York

northriverlobsterco.com

While you can easily get your hands on a lobster roll in most parts of
Manhattan, North River Lobster Co. is the only place where you can get
a lobster roll while bobbing up and down atop the Hudson River.

The largest floating lobster shack in NYC features fresh seafood, light fare,
mason jar cocktails, buckets of beer, and a raw bar. It’s a laid-back, casual
atmosphere with great views of Midtown.

spectacular locales themselves gives you the chance to explore hidden
corners of the city.

Though they host events throughout the year, summer is when they hit
their stride.

Pier 66 Maritime, New York

fryingpan.com/site

At the faintest sign of a nice spring or summer day, you can bet there’ll
be a line to get into Frying Pan. While the crowd can be hit or miss,
there’s no denying it’s one of the city’s premiere destinations for an
outdoor libation.

It was also designated a historic site in 1991 and is currently on the

National Register of Historic Places…so it’s kind of a big deal.

Grand Banks

Grand Banks
$$$ Bars, Seafood, American (New)

Pier 25, Hudson River Park, New York

grandbanks.nyc

Oysters, rosé, sunshine, and the last original saltbank fishing vessel in
existence. Yeah, sounds like a no-brainer hang to us.

The Sherman Zwicker is the vessel that Grand Banks calls home in the spring
and summer months. Though its latest incarnation has only been around for
a handful of years, it’s already become a must try for anyone looking to enjoy
summer in the city. You may have to deal with a few unsavory Wall Street
bros, but don’t let that deter you.

NYC Ferry
ferry.nyc

Riding the subway is objectively a terrible experience 97% of the time. But
commuting between Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan in an open-top boat
complete with incredible views of the city and rosé on tap from The New
Stand is public transit we can get behind.

With their Pier 11 to Rockaways route entering their second year in operation,
expect a much smoother ride to the beach come bikini season.

line. You can do one of two things – get frustrated and pay $70 for a private
Lyft to the Rockaways, or wait for the queue to die down with a drink at
Industry Kitchen.

Located on the water’s edge of South Street Seaport and featuring a huge
patio facing the East River, this place is built for summer.

While Belle Reve has garnered a reputation

for their raucous nightlife with a hip clientele

their Sunday daytime pool parties that make
this a summer destination worth experiencing.
And by “pool parties,” we mean a New York

You won’t find giant inflatable swans or

European DJs fresh off a transatlantic flight,
but you will enjoy an open fire hydrant
