While completing her pediatric clinical rotation at Diamond Children’s, Yessenia participated in
the nursing care of her young patients, including administering medications to and performing
nursing assessments on infants through adolescents. Yessenia utilized critical thinking skills to
provide safe and appropriate care for her patients. As part of her pediatric rotation, Yessenia had
the opportunity to care for patients on both the general pediatric and the pediatric hematology/
oncology units. While on these units, Yessenia worked with the interdisciplinary team to ensure
the needs of her patients were being met. This included advocating for her patients and their
families as needed. Yessenia maintained flexibility when patient clinical situations changed, and
she learned to integrate her patients’ medical diagnoses with her own physical assessment
findings to develop thorough nursing plans of care. Yessenia took an active role in her learning,
and she regularly accepted feedback in order to improve her clinical performance and
understanding of the theory behind her nursing actions. She was very well liked by patients and
staff alike, and it was a pleasure to watch her grow and develop her nursing skills during her
pediatric clinical rotation.
I highly recommend Yessenia for a nurse residency or new graduate position at your facility. I
have no doubt she is going to be an excellent nurse and will be a great asset to any organization.
