Greenhouse Technician

A greenhouse technician is someone who works in a greenhouse, typically a glass or plastic

structure that regulates temperature and humidity for the purpose of cultivating plants. A
greenhouse technician is in charge of transplanting, thinning, harvesting, drying plants, and
treating and watering seeds. They are often in charge of managing seed storage, such as labeling
and categorizing seed envelopes with instructions for growth. Greenhouse technicians collect
data, keeping records of plant growth statistics and making environmental and care decisions
based on that data.

Horticulture

Horticulture is the science and art of growing plants (fruits, vegetables, flowers, and any
other cultivar). It also includes plant conservation, landscape restoration, soil management,
landscape and garden design, construction, and maintenance, and arboriculture. In contrast
to agriculture, horticulture does not include large-scale crop production or animal husbandry.
Vineyard Manager

The vineyard manager position is essentially in charge of the entire grape growing process.
Specifically, the vineyard manager is in charge of supervising employees (harvest and other
seasonal help), creating training for those employees, and business (or rather vineyard) planning
throughout the year

Propagation Worker

A Propagation worker assist the Propagator with activities related to growing hardy landscape
plants, including trees, shrubs and perennials. Other duties involve planting, pruning, potting,
watering, staking, preparing and sticking cuttings, seed collecting and processing, and weed
control.
Conservatory Gardener

Conservatory Gardener is a person who cultivates plants in the Conservatory and tropical
collections. Provides living material and assistance to support interpretive programs and classes.
Works with other gardeners, nursery assistants, and volunteers in maintaining facilities,
collections and programs

Arborist

An arborist, tree surgeon, or (less commonly) arboriculturist, is a professional in the practice of

arboriculture, which is the cultivation, management, and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines,
and other perennial woody plants in dendrology and horticulture.

Arborists generally focus on the health and safety of individual plants and trees, rather than
managing forests (the domains of forestry and silviculture) or harvesting wood. An arborist's
scope of work is therefore distinct from that of either a forester or a logger, though the
professions share much in common.
Nursery Worker

A nursery worker is someone who works outdoors or in a greenhouse, and whose job it is to
plant, grow, water, transplant, prune, and generally care for plants, shrubs, and trees. Workers are
responsible for maintaining the quality of the greenery under their care, and determine the
environmental conditions necessary for optimum growth and development. They also monitor
the whole process from the initial planting to harvest.

Landscaper

A landscaper is someone who earns a living by adjusting earth and water in order for it to
become more aesthetically pleasing. Someone trained in landscaping might primarily work to
improve upon an existing garden layout, or they might work in one of the more specialized areas
of landscaping.

Some of the specialties someone interested in landscaping might choose to pursue would be
designing water gardens and fountains (aquascape), installing lawn sprinkler systems and drains
(irrigation systems) or designing practical solutions for orchards and farms. Since educational
requirements are not particularly strict for someone looking to break into the
landscaping business, this might be a good choice for someone wanting to start a new career
right away.
Parks Grounds Improvement

Ground improvements increase the load-bearing capacity and reduce settlements. The risk of soil
liquefaction during earthquakes can also be reduced. The resulting foundation conditions are
equivalent to those of natural soils with an adequate load-bearing capacity. Ground improvement
involves the use of self-exploratory processes. An intrinsic adaptation of achievable depths and
diameters occurs as a result changing geological parameters.

Landscape

A landscape is the visible features of an area of land, its landforms and how they integrate with
natural or man-made features.

A landscape includes the physical elements of geophysical defined landforms such as (ice-
capped) mountains, hills, water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds and the sea, living elements
of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including different forms of land
use, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.
