ARTS WEEK 2018


February 19 – 23, 2018

“Creativity can take you everywhere.”

o February – 2018, (Monday)

“Dream and Fantasy” ; Watercolor series and pencils


Venue: Second floor of canteen
Time: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
 Each section must have one (1) contestant who must bring their own watercolor, pencils (colored and for sketching) and eraser.
White pens and metallic pens are allowed. The paper to use will be provided by the Arts Club.
 There will be three winners for Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-up. Their outputs will be judge by creativity,
originality, harmony and balance, and overall appearance. Pictures (or professional photographs) may be used as a basis, but
only for human anatomy or clothing, flowers and plants, and animals. Artworks and sketches made by other artists are not
allowed.
 They are given three and a half hours (3 hours and 30 minutes) to complete their artworks.
 Criteria:

Relevance to theme - 30%


Creativity and originality - 40%
Harmony and balance - 10%
Overall appearance - 20%

“Emotions within the Human”; Pen & Ink


Venue: Second floor of canteen
Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
 Each section must have one (1) contestant who must bring their own pens (or ink and brush, whichever they have available), pencils
(for sketching and shading) and eraser. White pens are allowed. The paper to use will be provided by the Arts Club.
 There will be three winners for Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-up. Their outputs will be judge by creativity,
originality, harmony and balance, and overall appearance. Pictures (or professional photographs) may be used as a basis, but only
for human anatomy or clothing, flowers and plants, and animals. Artworks and sketches made by other artists are not allowed.
 They are given two and a half hours (2 hours and 30 minutes) to complete their artworks.
 Criteria:

Relevance to theme - 30%


Creativity and originality - 40%
Harmony and balance - 10%
Overall appearance - 20%

 February – 2018, (Tuesday)


“Random without Limits”; Watercolor, pen & ink, colored pencils
Venue: Second floor of canteen
Time: 8:00 AM – 10:30 PM; 1:30 – 3:00 PM
 Each section must have four (4) contestants (one pair for the morning, and one pair for the afternoon) who must bring their
own watercolor, pen & ink pencils (colored and for sketching) and eraser. White pens and metallic pens are allowed. The paper
to use will be provided by the Arts Club.
 There will be three winners for Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-up. Their outputs will be judge by creativity,
originality, harmony and balance, and overall appearance. Pictures (or professional photographs) may be used as a basis, but
only for human anatomy or clothing, flowers and plants, and animals. Artworks and sketches made by other artists are not
allowed.
 The contestants will each pick from a bunch of rolled paper provided by the Arts Club and inside that paper would be a word
they must follow as the theme.
 They are given two and a half hours (2 hours and 30 minutes) to complete their artworks.

“Equality and Freedom” ; Colored pencils and pastel
Venue: Second floor of canteen
Time: 8:00 AM – 11 AM
 Each section must have one (1) contestant who must bring their own pencils and pastels. The paper to use will be
provided by the Arts Club.
 There will be three winners for Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-up. Their outputs will be judge by
creativity, originality, harmony and balance, and overall appearance. Pictures (or professional photographs) may be
used as a basis, but only for human anatomy or clothing, flowers and plants, and animals. Artworks and sketches
made by other artists are not allowed.
 They are given three hours (3 hours) to complete their artworks.

February – 2018, (Thursday)


“Surreal and Unreal”; Watercolor, colored pencils, and pens.
Venue: Second floor of canteen
Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM; 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
 Each section must have one (1) contestant who must bring their own watercolor, pencils (colored and for sketching)
and eraser, and pen and ink materials. White pens and metallic pens are allowed. The paper to use will be provided
by the Arts Club.
 There will be three winners for Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-up. Their outputs will be judge by
creativity, originality, harmony and balance, and overall appearance. Pictures (or professional photographs) may be
used as a basis, but only for human anatomy or clothing, flowers and plants, and animals. Artworks and sketches
made by other artists are not allowed.
 They are given six hours (6 hours) to complete their artworks.
 Criteria:

Relevance to theme - 30%


Creativity and originality - 40%
Harmony and balance - 10%
Overall appearance - 20%

February – 2018, (Friday)


This day is the showcasing of the artworks that have been made throughout the week. It is also the day of final judging for all
the artworks.

Art Symposium
There will also be a symposium with the speaker being Felix Mago Miguel who will be talking about contemporary art. The
planned time is 2:00-5:00 PM.

 Who will Attend?


o Grade 11 Contemporary arts Students
o Arts Club Members

FURTHER NOTE OF REQUIREMENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS:

 Artists could only join one contest per classroom. Unless there is absolutely no other available artist in the
classroom, then an artist can repeat the contest depending on the medium they specialize in.
 Only Arts Club officials are not allowed to join the contest.
 If the Arts Club officials can see similarity of artworks with other artists from the internet, 20 points will be
automatically deducted from the total score.
 Each contestant must make up his or her name to avoid bias from the judges. The Arts Club shall prepare a list of
attendance in which the contestants will write in their real name and alias.
 This contest is not about who draws the most realistically, but rather one with great imagination.
