MS. MARY S. BULAWE

SLU-HSH Chief nurse

Dear MADAM BULAWE

Greetings!

We the fourth year students of Saint Louis University, School of Nursing, will be conducting a
Quality Improvement study entitled, “Decreasing Medication Errors with the Integration of a
Medication Safety "Do Not Disturb" Vest in the Clinical Area”. We have determined that an interruption
during medication preparation is one of the factors causing medication errors. According to peer
reviewed journals and related literatures, an effective method of avoiding medication errors would be to
signal others, personnel, watchers, etc, with the use of a medication safety vest. As part our quality
improvement project, we will be providing a “Do not Disturb” vest that will caution others from
interrupting the medication nurse on duty.

Your comments and recommendations are very much appreciated.

Thank you very much

Yours sincerely,
