Task 5

A day in the life of a science coordinator / teacher:

Focus: On the many roles of the science coordinator / teacher within the school:

Objectives:
For student teachers to:
 Continue to develop positive working relationships with both the teacher and the students
by acting as a TA within the classroom under the direction of the MST.

  Shadow the science coordinator / teacher and complete Table 5: ‘A Day in the Life of
a Science Coordinator / Teacher’ which provides an overview of their duties throughout
the day

 You will need:


 The Teaching Practice Tasks booklet for Practicum 3b
 Table 8: A day in the life of a primary school science coordinator
 A digital camera
 Table 4: TP Discussion Board Guidelines

Before implementing these tasks:


 Discuss each of these tasks with your partner. Decide what each of you will do. Discuss the
tasks with your MST. (Ask for permission to take photographs)

Whilst implementing the Tasks:


 Make notes about any areas of interest or issues you would like to discuss with your MCT
and/or MST.
 Photograph evidence for the tasks and portfolio.

After completion of the tasks:


1. Complete Table 8: A day in the life of a primary school science coordinator. PDF and
upload it to your TP e-portfolio. Email tasks, etc. to gdesravins@hct.ac.ae using the
correct file names/subject lines.

2. Complete your TP Discussion Board on BB Learn and reply to 2 others.

7:15 Signs in MST arrives and signs in at the office

7:20-8:00 Prepares the science lab MST arranges the environment to suit the lesson
for use with students goals.

6:50 Signs in The teacher just arrived at the school and she goes
to sing in the reception.

7:00-7:25 Prepares all hands on The MCT Prepare all materials for the classes of the
materials or labs for the particular day, so if she gave the lesson in the class
classes or lab she put all the materials before the students
come.
7:30 Morning Assembly The MCT go to the assembly and return back to the
class by taking the students with her.

7:45-1:55 classes The MCT taking all classes according to time table
and at the free time planning for the next day or
making lesson plan for the next week.
2:00-2:15 Return back all materials The MCT if they have a material that she takes it
to the lab and organize from the lab she returns back to the lab and she put
them in the correct place.
2:30 Signs out The MCT sign-out, but in case, if there no school
meeting and department meeting or workshop.
