I-Search Reflection
Besides the difficulties that began to arise throughout the process of investigating
towards choosing a certain profession I settled for an LVN (licensed vocational nurse).
My first career choice is was to become a forensic scientist. Studying forensic science is
families in distraught for losing a loved one as to satisfy my desire of being capable to
investigate the cause of death through science; something I am highly interested in.
Although this profession did not go the direction as I expected—the material that makes
up the courses was simply overwhelming; moreover, the cost of schooling per semester
was completely out of my budget—the amount of great precision, stone cold mentality,
and surprisingly the excessive amounts of corruption in this profession simply goes
certified nurse midwife (CNM) and my heart filled with joy. A certified nurse midwife is
a highly trained individual who not only delivers babies, but also provides prenatal and
postpartum care, preconception care (birth control), and family planning services. My
compassion and adoration for children was perfect for this job. To able to deliver a child
as well as care for their family would be a beautiful, delightful experience and a personal
gain knowing I will impact families in such a positive manner and be rejoice-full when
waking up to go to work. Sadly, the person I had contacted for this profession never got
At last, another profession that seemed to suit me well would be a LVN: a nurse
who provides basic bedside assistance to patients who experience accidents, trauma,
organ failure or invasive surgery. This career choice will allow me to interact with others
in time of need in order for me to provide comfort, love, and care for their well-being.
Through my research I found out the mental health is commonly disregarded in many
medical field jobs, which is bizarre because mental health is a substantial part of a
LVN by the name of Haymanot Haregewein who provided me with her philosophy
regarding the ethical values of nursing: advocacy and respect. Some frameworks of

ethical values that she mentioned were respect for human dignity, relationships to
patients, the nature of health problems, and the right to self determination—all which
justify the purpose of a healthcare provider. Taking the time to mention local programs
such as like one at the Santa Rosa Junior College (said to be greatly recognized by our
community) thought it only provides an associates degree and a well worth hard working
information on this career, enhancing my knowledge on aspects like mental health that I
would have never imagined to be disregarded the way it has been. This brings me into a
state of devastation, this brings me to desire more, in fact, to advocate for patients rights;
I-Search has not only made me feel certain about the field I would likely enter in
the future, but it has expanded my knowledge on certain professions I had once dreamed
information I-Search has presented me with contacts—even those I did not hear back
from—that could aide when further looking into my career after high school.
