Begin with introducing the topic to the class and have a brief discussion with the
class about what they might already know about HIV/AIDS. After short discussion
with the class, they will be partnered up with someone and will be given a worksheet
of HIV/AIDS questions to answer. The worksheet will have questions about what
HIV/Aids is, transmission, prevention, and treatment They will go on the CDC
website and find the answers to all the questions. Students will have about 20
minutes to complete the worksheet. When time is up, go over the answers as a class
as teacher goes over in more detail what HIV/AIDS is and how it infects the cells.
Hand each student a print out of a simplified HIV life cycle to look at as teacher
explain this process. Once teacher is finished, answer any additional questions the
students may have. To finish this class period, show a quick youtube video on HIV/
AIDS awareness. After the video, tell the students to pick their group members for
groups of three and give them instructions on their group assignment. If time, they
can begin the assignment. Each group will come up with their own way to share HIV/
AIDS awareness. They will have the next class to work on and complete their final
product.

D. Closure
At the end of the second class period, after they have turned in their assignments,
Quickly review with the students. Have the students’ names on popsicle sticks and
put them in a cup. Ask questions about the topic and pick a random student’s name
